Thanks Harmonica! I try to be as efficient as possible in my planning. And needing so many new things means I will probably not do too many experiments and stay on the safe side with styles, but I guess that's alright. I don't think the cat hairs are going to be a problem. They're not living with me after all and when I'm back home I just have to take care to always take the jacket off and put it out of the way, coming inside.

Angie, I don't have a problem with it when it's a spring weigth jacket. If we have temperatures high enough to wear this jacket I won't need the pockets to put my hands into. This is no replacement for my wool peacoat! And I can always wear my cashmere wristwarmers for a little warmth if it's chilly. My denim jackets have no pockets either.

Thanks Jackie. I'll keep you all up to date. Moleskin is heavy cotton fabric. Wikipedia says that "[c]lothing made from moleskin is noted for its softness and durability. Some variants of the cloth are so densely woven as to be windproof." It's interesting that you call it softshell fabric, because to me softshells are those technical winproof and waterresistant jackets you get at outdoor retailers.

I am interested to hear how it works out. I like the idea of moleskin and it looks like a peacoat. I think they call that softshell fabric here (?). Nice for spring/fall.

Thanks approprio. Informal is not a problem at all, because my style and life are casual. This one is supposed to be lined, with piping. I do think the quality would be lovely.

Astrid, this is a lovely jacket and I think it would look fantastic on you. It really suits your style and it looks very timeless to me.

The only thing I notice is that the material, patch pockets and topstitching make it look somewhat informal, which is in no way a bad thing, it just is what it is.

FYI, things I think anyone should look for in a jacket or blazer are great materials and finish (is it lined? are the buttons sewn on properly? etc) and of course the right fit. But you knew all that. :)

I made a little shopping list for the next few months in the other thread:

- at least one great pair of skinny jeans
- new shorts for summer
- an everyday skirt for spring and summer
- new tees/tops/blouses

And maybe:
- some kind of spring outerwear
- some shoes for spring (oxfords or sneakers or something like that)

With outwear I mean something to wear when my wool peacoat is too warm and I don't want to wear a denim jacket. I have a blue military jacket, but that one is rather casual and quite oversized now (no great quality either).

I just saw this jacket online and I'm wondering if it's worth a try. It's moleskin, a navy and lengthwise made to wear with jeans. I can wear one of my denim jackets with a skirt instead, so it's alright if it would only work with pants or straight skirts. It's on a big markdown...

I'm rather clueless when it comes to jackets and what details look alright (and not dated), do you think this could work? Thanks.
