I saw your post with the jeans Sarah and really like them on you. And right now, there is a code for the Canadian ON website for an additional 20% off - you can't lose!

Well, obviously i just bought the Old Navy's. The price was good to play with the concept. And I could size up and down to my hearts content since the store was in full inventory still. The fabric is nice enough and the distressing not too "fake" which typically bugs me on lower price point jeans.

Sorry I'm late back to this - my evenings these days are unavailable and I'm trying to get back to posts during spare time snippets during the day.

Jeanne - unfortunately I don't have an H&M store here and the Canadian website doesn't sell those jeans

Rae - I really like the look of those but the cost of ordering from Nordstrom's has become prohibitive what with the current exchange rate and the duties :(

Rita - I like the slim lower leg of the RF pair too.

I think I'm going to try both the ON version April linked to as well as the RF pair. I'll be back with a report once done.

Thanks for all of your input - much appreciated.

Shannon;

My concern as a fellow Petite is that fading will be in the wrong place if I buy non-Petite jeans. I have the Big Star Kates that Rae linked to, but in *Nice* which is a lighter wash. I just bought them on sale at Zappos, but they seemed tighter in the legs than the same pair that I tried on earlier at Nordstrom. Then, they went on sale at Nordstrom, and that pair should be delivered within the next hour. Maybe the pair in the store had stretched out from customers trying them on. I guess I'll get it sorted out in the next few days. But Nordstrom and Zappos don't really help you in Canada, do they?

FWIW, the Kates are darn long even for Petites who like scrunch, so I may get them shortened a tad, esp. if I decide I want to be able to roll them. I got them as regular straight legs (vs. boyfriends), and they fit my legs as narrowish straight legs since IIRC they are 14" wide at the bottom. I have a small waist, no booty, and carry my weight in my legs so these jeans will look quite different on me than you since we have very different body types. These hit fairly low for a mid-rise jean, but I found them to be far more flattering on me than my higher rise jeans so now I am questioning the rest of my rises. In fact, I tried them on a whim, and they looked so GOOD.

I have the ON ones that April posted. Angie had them last year as a pick I think. I have loved them so much - mine are a bit lighter wash. And, mine are more cropped so I cannot wear them yet. Although both here and in your locale I know people are in shorts as soon as we get to about -5. I kid you not! I saw it on the weekend!

I am not familiar with the ones you linked to, but if you like the AG Nikki look, I've been really loving these. Big Star is made by AG, they're petite, and rolled up they look like a slim BF jean. I am wearing the regular length in the pics below. Get your true size and they will grow to the slouchy fit.

Shannon - based on you and I loving our L&T plaid pants I'm going to recommend the H&M ones I love. These are the ones on Canada site:
http://www.hm.com/ca/product/06687?article=06687-B

They regularly go on sale (I've paid $12.50 - $19.99) and there are often codes. I have 2 washes in different sizes for different slouchiness. They are nice lightweight (but not flimsy) cotton denim. They come in tons of waist and length combinations. My regular size is slightly loose so a bit of slouch is built in but they also taper nicely.

Darn it looks like they don't sell them to you, do you have an H&M? If not, sorry I tempted you.

I like how the RL jeans are slimmer at the bottom. I think that makes BF jeans more flattering.

Shannon -- Yes, I think the Gap ones might give you that "boyfriend" look you are after. They are inexpensive enough that it is worth a try. The Old Navy ones April pointed out are my current "boyfriends of choice". They work very well for me, but I am an hourglass -- so these may be a tad too bulky for you in the the thigh area. If you try them (and they are so inexpensive that you should), I would advise not to size up. I find that they are sufficiently roomy at your standard size… without being saggy-baggy. I have no experience with the RL jeans, but they look like they could have that boyfriend vibe if sized up.

Is there a consensus about what a pair of BF jeans should be or have? They seem so diverse!! I would be more concerned with the type of effect you wish to create- do these jeans do it for you?

I only have one real pair of BF jeans - the True Religion Cameron's. Love these jeans - I like the substantial thickness of the denim, the color wash and the non bagging. But at times I find the oversized flap back pockets cumbersome with certain untucked tops and when I'm having one of those hot flushes (you other menopausal ladies may be able to relate), I find that substantial fabric hot and heavy.

So I would like to find a lighter weight pair with flat rear pockets. As much as I covet those AG Nikkie relaxed skinnies some of you are rockin', they just aren't within the budget so I'm looking at inexpensive versions that I can just wear and have fun with.

I am learning that too much fabric volume on my thighs and hips makes me feel frumpy and wide so think a sized up slim/straight leg jean will work better for me than a true BF jean. That's one of the reasons the Cameron's work for me - the thighs fit.

Do you think this pair from Gap could work as a BF jean rolled with booties http://www.gapcanada.ca/browse.....=941287003 ? Do you have any other brand or style suggestions for me?

Thanks :)

ETA: Maybe even these Ralph Lauren vintage-inspired skinny jeans could work http://www.thebay.com/webapp/w.....n-0009-468
