ETA: Remember CocoLion's post about the scale of the backpack on her 5'4" body vs. how it looked on the models in the photos? That's another issue. This model is very slim, but she is probably also taller. Although we're only seeing part of her body, so in a way that is helpful.

Ooh - what a fun blouse! I love it!

And am sorely tempted to order it myself. I mean, really. I ought to order it. I could then claim to be "curating" a collection of kitty print silk blouses! (I also own the Equipment kitty print shirt.) Heheheh.

But a saner spirit suggests that this print would be too bold and too big for me.

Thing is, I could be wrong. There are counterbalancing factors in the blouse's design that could make it more suitable -- the shapes, with some angles and some curves, are good for me, the black contrast detail would be excellent, the high neckline....

Oh. What's that? We were talking about you?

When it comes to you, I'm equally divided. I think the colours would be superb on you. I think the overall shapes, the pointy ears of those cats, would be terrific with your sharp and, yes, delicate features. (No contradiction in that). But the size of the cats themselves might overwhelm you and so might the overall busyness of it --- the amount of motion. It's just really difficult to say, not seeing it in person, and not knowing you in person -- not knowing how animated you come across in real life.

It's a shame you can't return it easily. That would make it so much easier.

Thanks for the comments. I'd love to try it on, but it is online only...I checked. Either I will let it go, or go ahead and pay for the privilege of trying it on at home.

I just wanted at add that I think the print is really cool. It reminds me of M.C. Escher. I have no idea about suitability for you or quality, sizing, etc.

One of your latest outfits featured a scarf in a very similar color combination and it looked wonderful. I like this pattern, it is abstract enough to be interesting without being cutesy. However I do agree with Lyn and others that it is safer to try it on in the store if you can.

I agree with Deborah-- I'm very high contrast myself (pale skin, dark brows and hair) and I saw you in that red sweater the other day--- I think high contrast prints and red complement ladies with our coloring.

Yes! I can see you wearing this. Colour would be fab against your pale skin and dark hair. It's a beautiful blouse.

I also wanted to say I found Anthro blouses to be really hit/miss and you need to see them in person - for quality, fit and colour issues. I am not an Anthro blouse fan.

I usually think this kind of print and style looks best on women who have dramatic colouring or facial features, but lyn is right--you never know until you try it on.

Gigi, I think that is over my head! I'm not a visual person, so being able to analyze like that...I don't know where to begin. I think my features are sharp, but I've been told I look delicate...obviously I don't get that! I do well in bright colors but I don't know about bright prints. I may just have to spend $16 on shipping back and forth and just try it out.

That's sure a cute top!

I don't know whether it would overwhelm you. Can you wear *any* really bright colors, or do they all wash you out? Does black make you look washed out? Can you go to a dept. store and find a top that has a similar color scheme and try it on to see what happens?

As far as the question about which patterns overwhelm you, I read something in the book *The Triumph of Individual Style* about patterns. It's not just the color of the pattern that can overwhelm but its scale (size of the individual components) and the space between the elements in the pattern. You are supposed to try to mimic your facial features: the space between the elements of your facial features (little, moderate, or lots), and the space your facial features take up as a whole on your face overall (almost all the space on your face, a moderate amount of space on your face, or very little of the space on your face). The book also talks about patterns that have distinct edges vs. patterns that have more subtle, faded edges. I think that the pattern is again supposed to match your facial features: do you consider your facial features strong and distinct, or softer and more indistinct? And at the risk of being long-winded, I also remember the book talking about curved vs. angular patterns. Again, you want to match your facial features: do you consider your features to be soft and curved, or strong, dynamic, and angular? (Some people can have a combination of the two also.)

Some of this is kind of subjective, so maybe it won't help. But I just wanted to throw out some other ideas for you so you can maybe figure out what kinds of patterns work.

I've been eyeing this cute cat print since it first came out and I just can't decide. I've posted before about trying to figure out why I look okay in some prints and others just overwhelm me. I really haven't come up with an answer for why some work and some just look harsh and too much.

For those of you who "know" me, what do you think about this one? Could I do it, or would it look too harsh against my extreme paleness?

http://www.anthropologie.com/a.....401130.jsp

It's pricey, and no free shipping...just can't decide if it is worth a try.
