Just wanted to add - I saw my stylist today and we are going to something like this at my next appointment, an uneven dip-dye effect and perhaps a dark blue wash.

I respect your feelings on the topic but I just want to politely say that I don't agree that a person has to be of dainty stature to look good in a pixie. I actually think a little curviness can balance the style and keep it from looking too manly.
Confident that you're going to look great whatever you decide and hoping you'll post the results.

Getting my hair cut this week -- and not yet ready to grow in the grey. So this is all speculative, on my part, for now. But I've been loving the way alaskagirl's hair has been growing in. (I think mine is close to all one shade of greyish-white now, so I would have a much clearer line of demarcation.)

That is my plan once the grey is all grown out. I'm pinning your pic! Blue is really hard to keep up - mine faded within 2 weeks from a lovely cobalt to a bleh orange (because I had to bleach hair to get color to show). Am getting a cut today and will post a growout pic!

I love the inspiration pic and the whole idea of ombré. But I'm not sure about the exact colours of black and blue. Your hair reads dark brown to me. Also, is your natural hair white white or more grey?

The right cut and ratios of colour would be important, but I think you could pull it off with a great colourist and stylist. Daphne Guiness comes to mind.

Some interesting pics that show you don't have to go pixie.

I love the idea and your inspiration. But I have no idea how difficult it would be to make it work or last long enough between cuts. If your stylist thinks it's possible, I say go for it. Then again, I'm the one who wanted to dye her whole head silvery platinum yesterday. And who still wishes that would work and hasn't completely given up on the idea.

I like the idea of the ombre versus the pixie, and fully agree with Coco's assessment re the striping effect. I haven't been around much recently, but in the few posts of yours I've seen you seem to have a black-centric wardrobe -- going white on top would still add drama (particularly with the fun haircut), and would certainly bring further attention to your face when you're in a mostly-black outfit.

My daughter, who is 15, has an ombre look on below shoulder length hair. She wanted to have purple and I told her she could try it but that it had to look acceptable as it grew out, so she did the ends. She has dark brown hair. The stylist bleached about the bottom 1/3 of the ends, but not in a straight across pattern, but up and down, kind of organic looking. Then he put a purple stain over the bleached-white parts. That was around Thanksgiving. It faded down to lavender. Now the treated part of her hair is a combination of pale lavender, grey and white/blond. It has looked good throughout. I think that method could also work for you. I have some older pix, but not one of the faded look.

Also, I was looking at Nick the stylist's pictures and here is a wild color one that could be fab, on almost your same hair cut (scroll down): https://www.bangstyle.com/user.....sone-86709

I'm thinking you could really pull this off. You have those nice darks and lights in your appearance -- and this is a very spicy move. And you are a very spicy lady. I think having a great colorist is key but as you said, you can always wipe away the entire experiment with going back to black.

I see -- a blue-black-blue pattern. Then going to white - blue. Then white. I love that there is a plan! As far as whether it's too striped looking, that is subjective. I think getting the ratio of blue-black-blue right is key. If it came off too harsh, with too much of a striped horizontal band around your skull, you could add some blue streaks so it's more punk and less geometric.

I hear you on the pixie issue. I have a very small head and don't feel ok with a pixie. Pinhead. I love a bob like yours.

Coco, at first it would be blackish with dark blue roots. As it grew in, I'd have about an inch and a half of the blue ombred into the black ends and the white root, then I'd let the colors grow out (renewing the inch or two of ombred blue as necessary), so that I'd gradually be cutting off the dark ends. Eventually, I'd have the white with just the blue ends and then have all white when I cut the blue off -- keeping the cut at about the same length throughout the process. Too stripe-y?

So, here's another challenge for the fabulously greying and silver foxes here.
My original hair color was a dark chestnut brown, but now it is an indeterminate combination of salt and pepper. By now, after 25 years since the first greys appeared, I imagine that it looks like very dirty snow. But I actually don't know because I keep it colored shiny, almost-black. This looks pretty good, because it complements my overall pale coloring, blue eyes and fondness for bright red or hot pink lipstick. And my edgy cut goes well with my dramatic clothing style.

HOWEVER, I have been asking my stylist for several years now how I could transition to natural. His opinion is that only all black or all white would really suit my style, and I think I agree with him on that. Of course, the dark hair dye, even though it's a demi, cannot be processed out of my hair. His solution is to wait until all the roots are white, grow it out just a bit and then cut a cool short pixie. I do like pixies and have worn them often, but I am rather on the big and dumpy side to wear one at this point in my life. Besides, it's taken me a year to grow out my last pixie into a short, geometric bob, which I am really enjoying. At 65, I am stingy with my years and don't really want to spend another year with a style that makes me uncomfortable.

So, I was thinking maybe we could do something like grow out some white roots and ombre a color (perhaps a cobalt) onto them between the black and white and then let it go all white above as it grows out. I couldn't figure out how to grab the picture I linked above, but I think the link works. Even though I know the whole ombre thing may be passe now, I just love this girl's look. Of course, it's a problem that she's a girl and I am an old lady and don't have nearly as nice features as she. But I am crazy enough to do something dramatic when the time comes. Crazy doesn't embarrass me; boring does.

And if I hated it, I could just recolor it all in single process or cut the pixie on the white part.

So what do you think?
