Thanks for the recommendations!

Two lip products I should have included in my reviews. Usually I'm a minimalist - tinted lip balm for everyday or satin lipstick for dress-up. But I've found one liquid lip and one lip gloss I actually don't mind wearing: the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink is comfortable for a liquid lip; I like 15 Lover and 80 Ruler. (05 Loyalist makes me look recently deceased.) And for lip gloss, the Neutrogena Hydro Boost lip shine is hydrating and not too sticky. I've tried 50 Radiant Rose and 20 Blushing Brown so far.

Thank you, Laura. I like Trader Joes for products like toothpaste when the usual brands cause bad things to happen

ooo...i've eyed blue lizard. i may get it for a beach trip. i still love my japanese sunscreen for the face. have you tried anessa, it's good for activities/sport/sweat. probably not for a long swim.

your meh experience with the ordinary is so common. i finally found a product of theirs that i actually like, the lactic acid one. don't know if it's doing anything since i use other actives, but i do like mask with it, like other acids.

if you're looking for a lip balm for the winter, i swear by co bigelow's my favorite night lip balm. literally _my_ fave.

talk to me about oil or gel cleansers...

Will have to check out Blue Lizard! The alpine sun where I live eats through chemical aunscreens. I have tried and loved PRIIA mineral sunscreen, as well as Art Of Skincare’s own brand. They are both silicone based. But the texture is really fantastic with both of them. Not heavy in the least. I do not have any acne issues with them whatsoever and I break out extremely easily from cosmetics with any pore cloggers in them.

I've never tried Trader Joe's cosmetics either but the Blue Lizard Sensitive Skin Sunscreen sounds really promising. I need to up my protection when I hike.

Thanks for the reviews. I've been curious about the Trader Joe's HA serum. I'll have to give it a try sometime. I find that a lot of serums get pill-y if I don't give them enough time to absorb/dry and try to put a lotion or cream on right away.

Have you Suntegrity products for SPF? They do tinted and non-tinted versions. I'd say they're the best mineral sunscreens I've tried so far. A bit of a splurge, but such a nice consistency and never chalky or pasty looking on the skin.

I keep waiting to post because I wanted to do longer, more in-depth reviews, but that may never happen. So, have some quickies written on a too-cold-to-go-out day:

Trader Joe's enrich face lotion SPF15: This was very reasonably priced, less than $5 for 4 oz, and its active ingredients are only zinc oxide and octinoxate, no avobenzone/oxybenzone. But it broke me out, like 90% of sunscreens.

The Ordinary coverage foundation: I actually bought this last summer, looking for a foundation that would stay during really hot, really humid days working at the orchard. It's both liquidy and silicone-y and didn't stay put on my face at all. Also breaks me out. I've been trying it this winter and it does better in lower humidity but still not worth keeping. I might try the serum foundation someday if they get their supply chain issues dealt with.

Innisfree eco safety perfect sunblock SPF 50: this was an attempt at finding a waterproof sunscreen and I like the consistency but it breaks me out. I think it's been discontinued anyway.

Trader Joe's hyaluronic moisture boost serum: a gel texture, not a liquid, which makes it easier to apply, but it looks too shiny and emphasizes my texture when worn alone, and balls up under makeup. I've been using it at night layered under a balm-like cream which I'm liking.

The Ordinary salicylic acid 2% solution: my skin usually loves salicylic acid but this has been meh. I'll likely use it up but not repurchase.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion Moist: this is a lotion in the Japanese sense, thin like a serum. I expected to love this given how adored it is in skincare groups but I haven't found it amazing.

Thinkbaby SPF 50+: bought the baby version since it was on sale but it looked identical to the adult version. Zinc oxide sunscreen, goes on very white and thick, but dries down translucent. Adds a lot of sheen and tends to make makeup slide off but I think it'll work ok on body and hands.

Blue Lizard Sensitive sunscreen: my new favorite zinc oxide-only sunscreen, and the bottle turns colors in the presence of UV rays. I actually used this one up and need to buy another. Works OK under makeup which I rarely find with mineral sunscreens.

Urban Decay all-nighter setting spray: OK but not amazing. I still haven't found a setting spray that makes my makeup stay noticeably longer.

Timeless Vitamin C serum: finally trying this out; it's so liquidy it's hard to apply evenly. Just started using it at the turn of the year so I haven't noticed big differences yet.

Golden Rose stick foundation: this is supposed to be a dupe for the pricey Hourglass stick foundation, which I haven't tried. I got the lightest shade which is amazingly too light for me in the warmer months. It needs a very moisturizing, almost greasy layer under it to make it look decent on my skin. It does give a nice look once it's blended, but it breaks me out.
