Roxanna, thanks. It’s the velvet blazer that made the second outfit more dressy to my eye. I draw the line at wearing a velvet blazer to the dog park. But never say never! Lyn, these are a fine cord, so the stripe effect is less pronounced. I prefer that. More like a finely textured velvet. And I agree that Delta is scary. Unfortunately our numbers are persistent - not responding to the measures that worked last year. Hopefully as our vaccination rates improve we will get it under control. JAileen, dog parties are the best. I’m sorry about your friend moving. But at least you will be able to travel to see her in a way that you couldn’t last year. I like the idea of cords abs wire then about 20 years ago, but as Janet said, the thin fabric and stretchy material put me of them as I grew older as they looked too much like sausage casings on me. I love the Herschel backpack in your signature dark floral. Cords are definitely part of my wardrobe. They are warmer than denim for our Northeast NY winters. I have skinnies and wide legs in cream. We had bad news on our case numbers again today. So depressing. This is just the tonic and distraction that I need. (And I don’t know what I’m going to do without the Olympics.) Great to hear plenty of cord love. I wasn’t sure if the 70s association would be off putting to some people. (I love 70s inspired fashion, so it’s a plus for me.) Plus there is that annoying “vvvp” noise they make. You are right FI! But I find any flared or wide leg jeans make a similar noise so I’m prepared to overlook it. ST, I definitely think of cords as casual, but a little dressier than jeans. Bijou, you got it. It’s the only time I get a chance to wear proper clothes (I’m not as disciplined about dressing up for WFH as you). I make the most of it. Nemosmom, now you make me want toffee coloured cords. Nice. Celia, the cords are a more of a burgundy colour, but they lean brown rather than blue. That tends to work better for me. Joy, I’m hoping these will last. I have a pair of velvet jeans that have taken a fair bit of knockabout wear and lasted very well. But we’ll see. Janet, I’d like a forest green pair too. Maybe in a slimmer cut than this pair. Both outfits are gorgeous. You wear that rich burgundy so well. I love your cords, and I also really like them in general. It can be hard to find just the right style. I got rid of several pairs last year because I was over the skinny fit and hadn't worn them all through the winter (maybe even for a couple of winters). So I now have two pairs, and that may be enough for my life and climate. You'e in one of my favorite colors again. I last wore cords about 6-7 years ago, but I'm all in favor of their return. I like when I can find a lighter weight cord pant with some stretch for comfort. I do understand others in different climates would enjoy a heavier weight to keep warm. I've also got a velvet jacket in my closet about that color. I hope to be able to leave the house long enough to wear it when we get to winter. Glad you are able to work in new and old pieces together.
