I wear this style very often with a particular dress that I love but whose V-neck is too deep, and I always use a square knot. My preference is the <a href="http://www.cowboyshowcase.com/scarfknot.htm">buckaroo square knot</a> because I invested some time in learning it, but there's also a different square knot technique that produces an identical front appearance (unfortunately I can't find the link to where I learned it... involves putting pieces over your shoulder).
