Diana, here's a thread about this from a month ago:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....s-backpack

I got the Elliott Lucca one and the Hayden Harnett one (which I found on Bonanza). Unfortunately they don't seem to be available now and are probably too small for you.

I returned the Matt and Nat one because I had a problem with the coating flaking off. I tend to be really hard on bags, though, so if you're good at treating it gently you might have a better time. It's huge, much bigger than just a laptop bag, it might hold all your stuff. It's also on sale at the moment:

My latest item of lust along these lines is a Saddleback Leather briefcase, which can be converted to a backpack. These appear to be indestructible but heavy, expensive, and fairly butch. (I happen to like that look, personally.)

Hopefully medusa will chime in. If I recall correctly she was looking for the same thing a few months back x

There are just some days when I don't feel fab at all carrying my laptop (plus everything else I normally carry) in my big gearish Jansport backpack, but my back and neck aren't up to carrying all that weight in a tote or messenger. I've come to the conclusion that I need to get a more stylish but still comfortable backpack. Ideally, I'd love something convertible (either messenger or tote) that I could use when I don't have the laptop as well. It needs to be able to fit my 15" macbook pro (the long side is about 14" long), preferably vertically as that is better for my back. I think something in leather would probably be more polished looking, but I'd consider other materials as well (I do have a soft spot for those black Prada nylon messengers that were all the rage in the 90s).

Here is one that I love the style of, but it has two big flaws - it's not quite big enough for the laptop (at least if we believe the measurements given), and it does not have a zipper closure (I find that magnetic closures tend to not stay closed when a large bag is full, plus I just feel more secure on my commute if my bag zips). Nevertheless, I'd love something that looks like this:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/th.....sultback=0

So, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much.
