No need to apologize Angie, and good to know, I'll pop round to 'de Hema' or 'het Kruidvat' as soon as I get my Converse.

Great maintenance tips too, and thanks Marianne, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh no Inge! I'm sorry. I use a very cheap ($2) cushioning insole that I buy at the pharmacy. ( Hema type place).

I wear my Converse in Winter ALL the time. Their rubber soles are fab in the rain. I wash the laces in the washing machine and use oxy-clean to wash the soles. Easy.

Angie (and other Converse devotees), do you wear them in winter? If you do, do you just use thicker socks? What about when it's wet or rainy, how do you clean them? I am thinking of getting a pair and wanted to know how much usage to expect.

Sorry about the delay Inge! They've been constantly coming up with more colors each season, so I hope you'll still be able to pick something you like!

Grrr, I was already eagerly awaiting my order when I got a message that it has been cancelled. Sneakerhead wants you to pay with your creditcard via PayPal for international orders. And now it appears that I first have to have my creditcard verified with PayPal (meaning paying a small amount with the card, then waiting for the creditcard statement and going back to their website to enter the reference number on the statement and only then I can start ordering for real. Sigh, I hope the colours I want won't have sold out by the time everything is sorted out.

Just wondering Angie: do you use gel insoles or just a leather/soft fabric ones?

Another Converse convert! I've just looked at mine - size 4 mens and size 6 ladies. You are spot on. I have a bright red and a bright yellow pair. LOVE them. Add a soft insole and you’ll be in heaven.

I'm a size 10 in women's shoes, which seems to correspond to men's size 8, or close to it, so the "2 sizes down" strategy worked for me. I've only tested this with running shoes so I'm not sure how it would go with other types - but Converse are probably in a similar category.

From my experience as a youth in the 60's, when we wore men's shoes we went down 2 sizes. The difference as understood at the time was that they were a bit wider than women's sizes. However all of our crowd wore a certain mans style (Wallobies or some kind of leather desert shoe) and going down the 2 sizes semed to work for everyone.

Mine are a men's 4.5, which is a women's 6.5. Most Converse styles are unisex, but some are meant juts for men, which means they don't produce sizes below (this is just a guess) a men's size 8 (women's 10).

I've finally found an online store that has Converse sneakers in bright colours and that will ship to Europe (Converse.com offers this too, but their shipping rates are outrageous). Unfortunately Sneakerhead.com only seems to have Converse for men.

Have any of you ever bought men's Converse and how much did you need to size down for them to feet your 'ladyfeet'?
I've had a look around Zappos and they seem to suggest that there's a difference of 2 sizes, so if you wear a women's 7, you should order a men's 5. Does that sound about right you think?

(and maybe a silly question: is their actually any difference between the men's and women's models, I don't really see it)
