Wow, what great ideas! I love the idea of a white button down and maybe changing the tied ribbon belt (which is attached but I could slide right out). I'll have to contemplate different colored shoes. I tried white but that was just too sweet. I actgually wore it last weekend with some lighter brown flat gladiators. I'm also excited to try the skirt with the denim shirt I ordered a couple of days ago!

I love having this forum to pose my styling questions. Whenever I have a piece I love but just don't know how to wear it, you ladies come through!

I love that skirt! I'm pretty sure there was an Anthro one similar last year so I doubt anyone would guess it's not current. I would lose the pink tie belt and add kelly green patent or white or something tougher with rivets. Add a white jean jacket to what you already have on or love the idea of some polkadots with it. Booties? Cons? Can you tell I"m excited for your styling possibilities? Your other purchases are nice choices for you - fit and colors.

I like the skirt a lot, even as styled, though agree adding green would be out of this world!

The snakeskin cardi looks very versatile. (I even contemplated it over the skirt with a dark blue top or shoes or bag.) Not sure why you say this particular top is a step backward, but it looks pretty and will be cool, it seems, so unless you're really uncomfortable in it and doubt you'll actually wear it, I'd call it a very practical purchase!

Wouldn't a green and white gingham shirt be fab tucked into that skirt to update it? If you can't find green gingham, maybe red and white or even black and white would work just as well. Other pattern mixing ideas would be polkadots, stripes, or a floral with some of the colors from the skirt. There's always a cropped denim jean jacket or denim shirt to cut the sweetness.

Beautiful skirt. I could see it dressed up with a cript white button down and thin belt. Lovely.

I hope your cheek is feeling better. That explains the model poses. ;)

Well, you may have hung onto that skirt just long enough! Maybe with a bright green blazer? (I need to get to F21!) The mood I've been in lately I'd wear it too, with the pink top AND the green blazer, lol! Love your second cardi! Very breezy and boho. I love the print too.

My sympathies are with you on your long hot summer. IKWYM by "taking a step backwards" (witness my plaid peasant top today) but we do what we have to do to stay cool and in our price range. I'm sure you'd still be above average in your town in that third top, right? It's pretty and the colors are good on you.

Thanks for the thoughts on the skirt. I actually really like the swingy shape. I'll have to hunt for a green top in my closet to try.

I think I look pretty goofy looking to the side in all the pics. The dermatologist did a little work on my other cheek and I didn't want to freak anyone out with the stitches.

I think the skirt can work for you really well! If you want to, you can always "pencil-ify" it a bit to change the shape. And green would definitely make it seem current!

The sweater looks terrific for you. And the top isn't necessarily a step backwards if it is going to be useful to you.

Love your cute Cleopatra poses, too!

When Angie posted about Conversational prints last week, I thought of this skirt that's been in the back of my closet for a while now. I got it at J Crew while I was in college, and I still love the style and print - but I worry the pink/green combo is a little 2002. I wore it for a little event on Saturday with the pink sweater, but I'm looking for other ideas of how to wear it.
http://youlookfab.com/2012/03/.....ay-or-nay/

I also bought two things fairly recently. #2 is a cardi from Target. I can't help myself there! I fell in love with the teal and gray and snakeskin-looking print.

#3 is a tee from Express during a sale. Although I fear it's a bit of a step back in my style journey, it will great during the hot spring and summer days when I can't be bothered to think too hard. (beach days, for one example!)

I popped these thing on with the skirt and shoes I had on today, so not much styling was going on here.
