Ruth's idea of an index card with a hole punched through it, strung on the hanger, is a good one for this, too. Just tally the card every wear. Or for more thorough record keeping, list the date(s).

Yay for ruthlessness! Very UWP trait.

I like your notebok method. Way less overwhelming than a spreadsheet that tracks *everything*and, as Janet said, easy to keep next to the closet for easy access. Plus it is nice to be able to cite some cold, hard facts if anyone (like a DH who catches wind of what Burberry is?) ever questions - BAM, I've worn it 257 times this year! Totally worth it.

Last fall/winter I kep track of what I wore in a pocket calendar format, by writing each day's outfit on the date I wore it. I think I prefer your method of tracking it by particular pieces. And I need a page for shoes. I need to purge some at the end of the season and need a clear picture of which ones I truly wear.

Yeah, I started to set up a spreadsheet but it's just too involved for me. I like the quickness of jotting down how many times worn. I might just do one page for tops, one for bottoms, one for shoes, and one for completer pieces.
I only have under a dozen items that have CPW over $20 still.

Good luck with the purge. I got pretty ruthless this summer with stuff that was 'fine' but not where I wanted to go with my style. It's harder to let go of stuff that fits and flatters, but just isn't expressing your style anymore.

Yay for being ruthless. I need to get rid of some things too and have such a hard time letting go.

Woohoo! I love a good closet purge.

I like the simple notebook idea (I am not a spreadsheet person, and a little notebook is much easier to keep in my nightstand drawer, right next to my closet where I get dressed!). I will be stealing that from you.

I am happy that I've been able to cut the tags and wear a bunch of newer items that have been waiting patiently for fall weather. I have been itching to do another closer cull but it's not quite time. I need to see how some of my older cool-weather items work with my newer ones.

Tonight I had some energy and culled through more skirts - this time I was pretty ruthless. I have a few I'm going to post here to see if they are too short, but the rest are OUT. No more cardis and skirts that can't be worn!

Also, I'm not one to keep a spreadsheet or anything mathematical, but I did find a little notebook and have jotted down recent significant additions to my wardrobe (Burberry coat, citron sweater, Gidigio boots, coated skinnies - and some "older" ones like the Theory leather blazer). I basically used front and back of a page for each. I put the name of the item at the top and I'm going to write down each time I wear it and how This is probably the only way I'll track PPW and it will provide me with some focus. Before I add any new items I want to get down the PPW on what I have. It's not SYC per se, but more of an accountability strategy as well as (I hope) a step forward in my purging and narrowing journey...

Yawn - off to bed!
