I never feel great in glasses. Contacts are beneficial in many ways other than sheer vanity (though frankly vanity is more than enough reason for me). But you need to take care of them. But seeing a doctor, getting properly fitted, finding out which type of lenses suit your needs best, and learning how to care for them (and obviously implementing that care) all reduce that risk to nearly 0.</p> <p>Not getting enough oxygen to the eyes is not a small or trivial matter. Another concern is where these lenses are made. There is no way of knowing if they have been manufactured in safe environments and have met quality control standards. You learn how to properly care for your lenses. You may even find you are not a good candidate for contacts. </p> <p>It's probably true that these girls are wearing their lenses every day. Why wouldn't they? They consider it the same as eyeliner. Heck, they probably sleep on them. Have you ever seen how teens care for their lenses even when they DO know better? I was a little confused on what, exactly, the danger is. As far as I can tell, it's that if the contacts don't fit properly then ones eyes don't get enough oxygen. I would think it would take constant wearing for this to be a problem and would probably cause discomfort before it caused permanent damage?
