I have sold shoes on eBay once in a while. (I think Poshmark would be similar, although I am personally turned off by the social aspect of it.) In my experience, it's only really worth it for high end items and certain brands with a lot of brand recognition/brand loyalty (like Frye or Fluevog).

(I wouldn't do thredup - I've tried it a couple of times and got literally pennies on the dollar back and I think it's totally not worth it. Brick and mortar consignment can be OK but it depends A LOT on the specific store and market, and they are usually much more seasonally restricted than online.)

Believe or not, I have had great success selling shoes on FB (clothing not as much), both new and used. I have sold over 10 pr of shoes/boots like Hunterboots, Sperries, etc. and a few off brand. I also think I make out better $ wise selling through FB because many of the women who have bought from me say that they can try them on before they buy.

Good decision. I would say it depends on condition and brand. A quick search on ebay or Poshmark would give you a sense of how they are valued.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I am going to try one other consignment store and will donate them to Dress for Success if I have no luck.

I'd try a local consignment shop first- then you don't have to bother with shipping. I expect dressy size 10 shoes would be in demand!

I have had mixed success with selling second hand items at consignment and online. But I think it is worth an attempt - size 10 shoes are in demand and sometimes selling them is a more direct route than donating. I sold two jackets this year and whilst the money meant I lost out, I figure that they found a new home with someone who will wear them.

If they are professional shoes I know Dress for Success often wants stock...

I used Poshmark as a buyer, not a seller, with a lot of success. I do run searches for specific brands, and sometimes even for specific items. So yes, if your shoes are high end, you might find the right buyers.

Oooh, my sympathies. I can barely tolerate my heels over 2" anymore.
I hold on to things for a long time. Once when trying to consign a pair of shoes, the employee said they accept or reject based on the shape of the heel, an indicator of how current the shoes are. So if yours are really recent, go for it! I wound up donating...

I was also going to suggest Poshmark, with reservations as Greyscale outlined. You won't necessarily get top dollar, and don't be in a hurry, but eventually most of my shoes have moved. If you want the shoes out of the house now, though, that's probably not the best way. Maybe browse and see if there are the same shoes currently available, see what the pricing and interest is.

I’ve successfully sold quite a few shoes on Poshmark. Mostly high end shoes that were trendy enough that someone might be searching for that label. I have a hard time knowing if shoes will work for my feet, so it’s nice to have a way to make back some of the cost for things that don’t work out.

Poshmark is a lot of work, so I wouldn’t really recommend it for you. It’s just evidence that there’s a market for used shoes. I’ve also bought and sold good leather shoes at local consignment stores.

Shoes are typically a tough sell. Most consignment shops will not encourage them (although they will sometimes take them). Speaking for myself, I'd just donate.

It probably depends on their stock. It is not worth it for the money you would get but seems to be an ethical solution. Try another consignment shop. The the shoes in season for fall/winter.? If not, you might wait until spring and try again. Some places are very picky. Some will not take anything from some stores. It is hard to find places that will take H&M, Kohl's and Old Navy. They usually welcome designer things if in perfect shape and cleaned and in season.

I have no idea, but I hope to be able to sell shoes on eBay. They are fashion shoes like yours though—they are basketball shoes my son wore on indoor courts only, and has outgrown. They are still in good shape.

After giving up on consigning my clothes (I had a store reject several NWT Talbots items because Talbots changed their labels, so my items were clearly 'old'), I realize that shoes may be a different story. I have about seven pairs of essentially brand new size 10 pumps/shoes that I can no longer wear.

Has anyone sold with Thredup or other online consignment site? Is it worth it?

My feet rebeled against me soon after these purchases... now I am caught in limbo... I need my cute shoes.. So l am focused on finding cute yet comfortable shoes and it has not been easy !!!

Thanks!
