I stay out of really heated political discourse because it's almost always futile to argue when opinions are strong, but I really lament the tone of discourse among supposedly respected public individuals who make their careers talking about this stuff for a living, and i blame them for fanning the flames. Fostering such a sense of division and hatred does nothing to move us forward as a nation and a world. </p> <p>Personally, I'm proud of my country, flawed as it is, and I'm proud of my state today, which is one of a small handful that passed legislation that promotes equality regardless of sexual identity. It was very inspiring. I love elections. Irrespective of ones political beliefs, it is wonderful to see people who are passionate about making their community and country better and wonderful to see people exercising choice peacefully and thoughtfully at the polling booth. I hope America moves into easier and happier times in the years to come. </p>
