I think Angie solved the problem here. The current trend of fluid fits needs boxy toppers.
Would toppers that don't need to be buttoned close work for your weather? They may be able to work with some of your tops if coupled with a scarf till you invest in boxy toppers.

I had this same problem( top and topper fit, not body type).
I had a couple of solutions for actual cold weather, but light summer toppers have been more problematic for me, as we as the whole proportion of oversized or boxy jackets.

I agree, I tend to either wear a fluid/oversized top with no topper OR a blazer/jacket/fluid topper with a more fitted tee/shell. I do have one longer top that suits a blazer but it skims closely to my body and drapes well.

I also wear fluid sweaters but they may not be quite so work appropriate in some situations.

Unfortunately boxy jackets are not great on me (hourglass, shortwaisted) and make me look like a rugby player (translation American Football player).. which is not my favourite look!

This is where a store is great- take in a couple of fluid tops and try with a few toppers and see what works...

A great question, I've been wondering why my older toppers do not work with any of the new tops styles. None of mine are boxy.

That's why boxier jackets are so on trend - and vests. They were made to fit over fluid tops.

With the need for toppers in the cold AC even in summer, some kind of topper is necessary. In my warm climate, with a 20+ temp difference between day and evening, sometimes between costal and a few miles inland, toppers are a big part of year round wardrobe, even though heavier jackets and coats only get a few months wear.

I have had little problem with blazers as they work well for me over everything except maxis. But with the addition of some oversized tops, and a couple of my recent fluid top purchases I am having difficulty finding toppers to work. Anyone have ideas about proportion, what kind to wear when more structured blazers scrunch the tops ?,,somehow drapey cardis seem like too much fabric.

I am 5' 3", with shorter body and long legs. I buy regular size pants mostly 4 or 6 sizes, but 10 or 12 tops and jackets. Mostly like petite tops as they are not too long on my short body. also fitting in jackets that fit is not easy as I have broad shoulders-actually if it weren't for my bigger boobs I would have a more masculine looking body,

So after the big shoe purge, getting new ones, getting my impulse shoe buying under control, I have to do something about my jacket collection, but reluctant to do so as even though I seldom wear some of them, I feel that with them gone I am at a loss for replacements..And maybe someone can give some advice as to the over wearing of the denim jackets--or an alternative..
