Yeah I have also looked at Apple shape advise when it comes to tops and try to find some middle ground of what works for both but I don't get a chance to shop in person and try things on and so much harder to get right but I find mid waist jeans and pants help with the stomach as long as they are the right size helps avoid muffin rolls and if I improved my posture that could proberly help to sitting comfortably adds pounds on me

Just chiming in to say that even though I don't consider myself an apple (yet, because I feel my body is still recovering from childbirth), apple guidelines are very helpful when dealing with postpartum mid-section. Maybe it would help you to think in terms of body areas and what you want to show/hide as opposed to a single body type? That's probably more or less what works for me at the moment, as the body is ever-changing.

It's so true Shaz, from my personal experience I am trying to get these classifications more or less right, just for the sense of direction, and then trying to just learn by doing as to what works for me individually. No matter how obsessed and granular I've gotten with trying to figure these things out, there is always an element of trial and error, at least IMHO and experience!

Shaz, I am a rectangle with shoulders slightly wider than my hips (so a tiny bit of inverted triangle tendency) - what I find is that as long as I don't wear something that dramatically emphasizes my shoulder, I'm fine. You may be the same?

Shaz, I've just seen the photos on your other post, and your shoulders don't look that wide to me. I agree that you are probably more of a rectangle.

Try measuring your shoulders straight across rather than around, then do the same with your hips. An easy way to do this is to stand with your back to a wall, and make pencil marks where your shoulder and hip bones end.
If the shoulder marks are significantly wider than the hips, your primary body shape would be IT. Your other measurements suggest rectangle, so you may be mix of both.

I thought I was rectangle shape as that's what comes up in the body shape calculater measurements are 36 30 36 but my shoulders are broader then my hips at 40 inches does that make a difference? I don't have tight fitting bottoms to do the photo. I have loads of areas to disguise after having two babies in two years it's taken a toll on both body and face not to mention the hair loss I don't have a defined waist I am short waisted but long in the leg no curves apart from bit of a after baby saggy belly
