People in fashion pics almost always wear them too small. You are supposed to have room! And SAs in Birkenstock stores know that and fit you right. These look like a perfect fit, similar to how mine look on my feet. I still have old ones a size down btw that I wear around the house, from my teens when my feet were smaller. Those look like in those fashion pics. They are fine for just wearing at home and sitting around, but I could never walk the distance in them. My 39s look like that on me and they are the right size. The issue is that when I wear 38s, my toes slop over onto the little ledge at the border of the shoe. This breaks the shoe down and is incorrect. I'm between sizes, and decided to size up (that's Birkenstock's recommendation). &nbsp;When they arrived, I thought they were clearly too big. </p> <p>But an hour of wearing them and my feet were in heaven. &nbsp;I don't know whether a size down would be better (and I may keep watching ebay for one), but these ones, even though they look a little big, feel just like I want them to feel on my feet. &nbsp;So I'm keeping them, and have worn them the last two days in a row.<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Now I'll be looking at all sorts of pictures and pinterest on how to style them to look a little bit trendy rather than just like happy-feet shoes. &nbsp;To be honest, I predict that these will be daily wear as long as it's warm enough to wear them whether or not they stay on trend.</p> <p>Here's my favorites of what I tried:<br />#1-2 My favorites style-wise. &nbsp;But I usually don't buy shoes with something between the toes, and these shoes took me no time at all to remind me why that is. &nbsp;They were also a bit small, I think (the toe strap is narrow anyway).</p> <p>#3-4 Tight in the toes, and loose on the ankles.</p> <p>#5-6 Almost perfect - but a little too big overall, and after realizing that I wanted a rigid sole, this sole was a bit soft. &nbsp;If I had ordered a few sizes to experiment with what worked best for me, I might have ended up with a pair of these.</p> <p>#7 The utilitarian birkenstocks. &nbsp;See, they do look too big. &nbsp;*sigh*. &nbsp;In any case, I'm going to be content with them. &nbsp;My feet are happy, and I may watch for a size down while I wear these. &nbsp;I didn't want to wait any longer for a kind-to-my-feet black sandal.</p> <p> </p>
