Re: patterns, I'm like that with my teals/blues. Most of them are in patterns with warm colors- generally brown, rust.
Having a lot of accessories in one color works for me cause of my standard dressing formula- "full house +1." I will usually wear 1 color 3x, the second 2x, and the third 1x in any given outfit. But I've been moving more to only 2 colors per outfit at times.

Ohhh. Thank you!

This is an interesting concept to me. When I decided to pull my berry items together more carefully, I made sure I have enough pieces to dress head to toe in those shades (plural, because I include many types of berry) and that was enough. I don’t think I’d want to dress in all blackberry, all raspberry, all cranberry….

Blues (periwinkle, blueberry, cornflower, cobalt, and other), clear greens, and pinks (frost & fuchsia) are my secondary colors. The closest I come to head-to-toe dressing in any of those would be my blue dresses. Once I find my frost pink mock T-neck sweater or body suit, I’ll have the pieces to be pink all over, but that’s not something I ever plan to do.

I’ve been noticing the yellow and orange components of my wardrobe lately, and picked up several items at home that have golden yellow in them, so the berry-complement compliment of my wardrobe is coming together. But for all my pieces, but especially orange and yellow, I am much more likely to wear patterns than solid colors. I have a lot of pattern in general, and of course they are hard to classify with any one color.

Your approach is different and fun to watch. I know you’d rather not post your face, but do hope we can see more WIWs.

The columns are black and cognac, but I have a very sparse page with chocolate, burgundy, and beige.
The rows are different types of items- so bags (s,m, l), heeled and flat shoes and 1 extra (tall boots, booties, transitional, sandals), accessories (8 rows), coats (warm, medium, light), jacket, sweater, 4 more topper spaces, and 4 "other" .
Not all will or should be filled in for every color. It's just a template to see what I have and what could be helpful.
I handwrite a lot Angie! I almost never use my non work computer anymore, since I'm on my work computer all day. I don't have Excel on my phone and it would probably be a pain to type all that in. My little bujo can go anywhere!

Suntiger, yessssssss! I'm always looking for ideas to help me sort my stuff out!

My complements/accessories goal is to add some cognac leather (belt, bag, shoes, coat), and possibly some deep forest or hunter green leather pumps.

This is great, suntiger, thanks for sharing!

My dilemma is that I really only want to wear certain colors in certain types of items (example: in spring, coral-colored accessories are a staple for me, but for the most part I don't like to wear coral clothing). And my need for color contrast means that filling out complements of my main clothing colors with matching accessories should not be a high priority for me (example: in fall I like to wear lots of burgundy, but I want to pair it with amber jewelry -- not garnets).

I've realized that I don't need All The Things In All The Colors, so that's progress -- but I'm still figuring out how to codify these insights in a way that will help me plan effective complements.

For Mary Beth especially- this is the system I'm using for complement planning. Sorry about my crummy handwriting!
The idea for this is to be sure that my complements cross formality levels and seasons.
#teammatchyftw
My goal for 2022 is to fill in my chocolate and burgundy ones more.
