I had the same confusion about the Lanai once I finally had one. I found that my topshop version to be more flattering and for me it had to do with where the points pointed - sort of what Anna said. I also think the length of the stance is a factor - if I recall from the Triumph of Individual Style, there are some magic points that reflect the length of your face, or your cheekbones to chin, and I suspect that the Vince hits one of them. I must say, however, I find these analyses interesting only after I decide intuitively which looks better - I don't think I would get anywhere trying to look for the jacket that meets the rules without trying it on and loving it.
