For me it is not so much the color as the uniformity of the color. I prefer the fit of the CoH over the Paige but would like them better if they didn't have the faded areas - although it is quite subtle.

I will, I promise! My husband and I are going to go downtown sometime this week. I also ordered the CoH in a darker wash (not available at Nordstrom) as well as a true bell bottom style. What fun!

The CoH's are the better of the two in my opinion. But you must try on the Joes too!

Thanks, ladies. The saleslady swore that the Paige pair, in particular, would stretch about half a size, so this was the fit she liked to see. I think my bum looks better in the CoH pair, though, and that will always take preference (for me). hahaha.

As for softness, I don't remember noticing a significant difference in the fabric. I think that lighter washes are often softer because they have been distressed (maybe?). In the case of these two pairs, though, they're both very soft and nice

The dark wash of the Paige jeans is great, my favorite color of jeans, but I really think the CoH fit better. They are sleeker and more flattering in the hips and rear shots, to my view. The Paige pair makes more lumps... or curves around the curves a bit too tight perhaps? I'm not sure what's doing it, but based solely on the photos, CoH gets my vote.

Good luck in your jeans decision!

Oh, but none of that is to write off the Paige pair - they are a lovely dark wash and fit well. One question - sometimes a dark wash denim is not so soft as a medium wash, so they take a wee bit of wear before they go to the body (although maybe that isn't so for premium denim). Are the CoHs softer than the Paiges?

Hi there, I'm a newbie, hope you don't mind me commenting. Just to say I prefer the fit of the CoH, they look really good in pic 6. There is something more streamlined about the line of the leg front and back, and looking at 3 and 6 together, the CoH definitely seem to lift the butt - I notice this particularly because I've been trying jeans myself today, and found that some looked good from the front but gave me a flat butt side on, where others gave a nicer shape. I think also maybe the bootcut of the CoH is not quite so wide so the proportions look better, although that could just be because the hem has been rolled on the Paige . Hope this helps!

They both look great, but here is my slightly esoteric take - perhaps you are responding to the color of the jeans as well as the fit? I personally love a dark wash, but since your overall coloring is more mid range, medium (as opposed to very dark) I think the CoH are less of a contrast, more harmonious. Does that make any sense at all?
Of course, I could be totally wrong. (I often am!)
I'd say go with whatever feels better - they both look great.

I couldn't try on any Joe's Provacateur, but here are the dressing room photos of the Citizens of Humanity Petite bootcuts (from previous post) and the Paige Hidden Hills regular Bootcuts. I like the wash of the Paige better, but the CoH felt better (though I can't specify how or why except that the butt & side views are better). I'll try a pair of Joe's when I go to the downtown Nordstrom.

Photos 1 - 3: Paige. I am wearing a pair of Miz Mooz platform heels (maybe 2.5" added height) and have the hem rolled under about 2.5"

Photos 4 - 6: CoH Same shoes, but no need to roll the hem. I wouldn't wear them with anything this high, though, but rather my Frye Campus boots or similar.

Sorry the photos are so dark. It's my phone camera in a dressing room.
