Thanks for the reminder - I get that way about trousers (with pockets) in particular, since they're a hard-to-fit item for me. But I have to remember that means 'hard to fit' for my lifestyle & colouring too, not *just* body type!

I'm chuckling at 'strict' colours, though - when I was in the midst of relocating all the black in my closet (to a specific capsule wardrobe & gymwear), I still had some black items I would wear occasionally. I noticed people treated me differently when I wore them (one friend repeatedly asked me if I was okay, & others would remind me to talk/ lean on them if I need to). Lol that was enough of a push to relegate those black items to non-everyday usage - I guess they subconsciously seemed incongruent to my personality?

Anyway, moral of the story is to remember your lifestyle/ personality fit too, not just 'flattering' body & colours.

I can see where that would be a useful dress to have for last minute occasions. I do like that it has pockets!

Good memory, DonnaF. Impressed. Thanks for the thoughtful words, and I remember Diana's revenge dress. Good analogy :)

I rarely wear dresses (I've always been a jeans/pants/trousers gal) but do like the idea of a dress with pockets on others. And it is very true that associations can weigh heavily on articles of clothing, both happy and sad associations.

Angie, I very much thought of you with that dress. I'd forgotten that Suz had the same one. I tried it too, but IIRC it's stiffer and not as forgiving as this one which is VERY forgiving.

The associations we make with certain pieces of clothing can be difficult, can't they? I very much remember when and why you wore the navy dress. But some can be good, like Princess Diana's "Revenge Dress".

I have the same dress as Suz! (I like the one you like too, DonnaF. Thanks for the suggestion).

I LOVED our dress, Suz. It's absolute perfection. Unfortunately I have worn it to my Dad's, MIL and FIL's funerals. Three of our four parents. It's taken on that role for a while. But I will wear it again on non-funeral days too! Just working my way up to it.

Ooh, I like that dress! I have no need for such a garment since I still have the one below. Also with pockets!

I am trying to learn not to buy/keep items just because they flatter and fit, especially if they have pockets. This Nic+Zoe comes in a Petite and is super comfy because it is stretchy in the back and has a soft tie in the front plus the soft fabric has a little stretch plus resists wrinkles. But I think despite the soft tie the style is what Angie might call “strict”, at least for me since the color is what I would call navy black so much darker than the Find. It would be great for a slightly casual funeral, but I go to memorial services where attendees are instructed to wear color.

Anyway, I otherwise recommend this Nic+Zoe Jessie dress. It also comes in a white and dark orange print. Both seem to be available on multiple sites. The PXS I ordered is TTS or possibly slightly big — but TTS for Nic+Zoe sizing. Pockets!!!
