I agree you'll get a lot of use out of the boots. The right dark brown can add unexpected interest to a wardrobe of cool dark colors. Also, 50+ women who dress conservatively can benefit greatly from adding a little edge! Since I did this people seem to enjoy how I dress, and I get feedback that I'm hip but still professional and age-appropriate. Go for the Fryes!

I love them and think they would be very versatile, especially for a casual life. I definitely plan on wearing my combat boots (Docs, even more casual) into my 50s!

Love them! I think combat boots are a classic now, and these are a refined style. You can certainly pull them off and then some! They are totally different from the Veronica Slouch.

These are great -- I ordered the engineer 8Rs and my order hasn't even shipped yet! I love these on you and I wish I had ordered some to try too!

I think these are quite different from the Veronica slouch boots, so I wouldn't worry about that. These boots are a gorgeous colour that will work well with black, blue, grey, purple, dark green, teal, cream, Winter white... And of course fabulous over 50 you can wear them!-)

I could also see these work with slim ponte knit pants, jeggings, a slim fitting dressy trouser tucked into the boot, perhaps boyfriend jeans, ...

They look fantastic to me, Glory. I'd say go for it if the comfort is there. The colour sounds wonderfully rich.

Gorgeous boots! They are perfect for MOTG and suitable for all ages, IMHO. They look great with skinnies but I see no reason why they wouldn't work with bootcuts, skirt and dresses. In terms of color, I love a deep brown with black undertones. My favorite boots (RIP) were this color and went with everything and added a richness and depth to basic outfits. I think high quality footwear is a great way to add polish to a casual wardrobe. I vote keep.

So the Frye combat boots arrived. They are beauties. They are dark brown but have some black and red undertones to them. So I love them BUT... am fraught with questions and need to decide K/R. They are pretty pricey for me so I want to be sure. My style is casual and I am looking to add higher quality items and try to stay current without looking like my teenagers.
1. Do I have enough cool or swag to carry these off? Am I too old for them as an over 50 working mom.
2. Colour - will this shade of brown be versatile. I only have black footwear.
3.. Are they too similar in vibe to the Veronica slouch.
4. Will they only work with skinny jeans as I do not have occasion for either dresses or skirts.

I have posted a few pics - not sure how well you can see them.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks
