Thanks Brooklyn! You have posted some intriguing color combos, so I appreciate that comment from you. The bag’s multiple patterns and colors would probably strike many people as hard to match, but for me it works exactly opposite that—I find I can grab it to go with many things, because it has so much going on. “Ms Free Spirit”

Great outfits and photos, Ms Free Spirit.

I really like 12/13. The colour combination is interesting and unexpected. And you know I like that bag.

I think the white out suits you very well. The white/tan combo @ 3/4 is my favourite of this set.

Sal, my mom & sister and I did our colors when I was in high school. My takeaway was that I’m a summer and shouldn’t wear black, but I generally don’t wear browns or yellow/orange either. But I felt good in these two, am not sure why these exceptions work for me?

An excellent set of outfits....I like the colour combinations. Especially the fushia and the light ones (1-6). Keep wearing bright and light I think!!

I can't recall if we have talked colour theory here, because I would have thought you might be summer, but you suit the brown and the golden yellow too. I don't 100% subscribe to colour theories anyway but I was curious.

Mary Beth, I’m glad someone picked up on where those strange phrases came from! I’m actually more of a Trekkie, but I kept thinking of these little guys with the color schemes in 3-6. I’d much rather be Leia, thank you. And you could totally rock those boots!
Thanks for letting me know that I forgot to put up 16. I’ll save it for next week.

You keep making these geeky Star Wars references, and I am here for it!

These are all great outfits, and I especially love all the light colored looks in photos 1-6. No, you don't look like you belong on the farm on Tattooine (what were they farming there, anyway? Water? Spice?)

FWIW, this is why I so desperately want those ivory Sam Edelman Lex Boots.

(p.s. - I don't see a photo #16)

Kathie, high five, classmate! I just read your profile and see that you support smart transportation. As I read that, my son was telling me about the importance of medium density and the difficulty of introducing good public transit to people who’ve never seen it, so high five there too. I’ve had fun finding photo spots this summer, and often rely on flowers—not sure what I’ll do in the winter! Haven’t seen you post many outfits, hope you’re also benefitting & learning. Love the red shoes in your profile pic.

Thanks cat2! Not sure why I never tried this strategy before—maybe because I’m generally not big on the “column of color” or “big blob of x” kind of thing.

Bijou, we have been so fortunate with our weather recently! Simply perfect summertime, while people to our Southwest are suffering such horrible flooding.

Synne, I include fuchsia under my “berries” umbrella. Kind of silly, because I can’t think of any berries in nature that are anywhere near that color. I think I just like cool reds in general. Appreciate you noticing the photos. My favorite is the one of my son enjoying the woods, which has nothing to do with fashion.

Thanks Rachylou! No scruffy nerf-herders present in the second and third outfits? I sorta wish I’d gotten better pictures with that shirt, will wear it and try again another day.

You’ve really hit your stride! The whiteout is fantastic, but I have to say, I like the unexpected soft blue and olive. I feel that looks really good with your hair.

These are all great! I think I joined YLF around the time you did, and you’ve done such a good job of taking what you’ve learned from the blog and forum, and making that work for you. I think my favorite is the light-out. The jacket works so well with your hair. The pink and black is super cute. Great location for the photo, too, with the matching colors.

Not a big project for me this time, just playing with colors. I started off still stuck on Angie’s white-out suggestion of a week ago, then gradually added other color combos I’ve been wanting to try. There is nothing new under the sun and I didn’t discover these combinations, but most are new to me (except the ones that aren’t—I’ve got questions about those).

As usual, the clothes aren’t new, but I trust you’ll tell me if I look like I’m stuck in a time warp.

I was tempted to wear necklaces with a couple of these, but that just seemed so expected that I chose the “made-ya-look” of not having anything there. Also, pattern/beadwork adds visual interest, so it did some of the work a necklace might otherwise do in some of these looks.

1-2. It’s a light-out! (Hat tip ChewyS for the term). When I saw how reflective these windows were, I *had* to get a rideby photo. I don’t think I’ve worn mixed whites before last week; I like it.

3-4 Another Guerilla photo in a very reflective window, another twist on Angie’s white-out suggestion. Facemask is peeking out of pocket I forgot the jacket had. Does the brown/cream combo work or do I look like I ought to be doing chores on Luke Skywalker’s aunt & uncle’s farm?

5-9 At the Staatsbibliothek on Unter den Linden, a boulevard in the middle of Berlin. Nothing innovative here; I’ve posted pix of all the elements before; I’m suspicious of this color combo—cream with earthy Olive might belong on Tatooine, and in the 70s.
It was 85F/30C, so my son and I took our bikes on the train to the beach at Wannsee (yes, that Wannsee). It was waveless & boring, so we hopped on our bikes, rode along the old border, past the Glieniker Bridge and then down to the Griebnetzsee S-Bahn, from whence we rode home on the train. Dinner at a chain restaurant that does Tuscan food with German efficiency. The breezy cotton top and shorts with some stretch didn’t feel out of place in any of that (well, I put a suit in at the beach). That’s the kind of flexibility I like in my clothes. But I’m still not sure about the beading & the colors in this century.

10-11 Olive & blue is a pairing I heard about on YLF. Waving at my dress twin, cat2. This shirt was a college favorite—mine and my roommate’s. I’m not sure who wore it more. Wish I could remember to smile in pictures!

12-13 Flattening my head so I look just like the maidens in the pedestal of the statue. I have no explanation for this mango tango; yellow & orange aren’t colors I usually wear, but here I am. Note to Sloper: closest to a poet shirt I own is a nightgown; floppy bits that catch on things are not “me”.

14-15 Black & pink—not innovative. Oh well. Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers, offering to take the pic for me!

16 I’m traffic light! Upside down! An $8 tank top seems to have slipped into my cart at Target a few months ago. The colors work, IMO, but the skirt doesn’t have that breezy summer feeling. It is easy to pair the tank top from this suit with jeans and shorts, and I can toss the jacket over sundresses, but the skirt is much harder. It feels “stiffer” (not physically) & more formal than the tank top. I did not wear this out of the house.

Thanks for looking! I’d love to hear what you think.
