Thanks for the great comments! I've got a lot of inspiration now :-)

Dimity - I've got a lot of neutrals that cover 4 seasons, too, though I change up the items due to temperature changes. My neutrals are mostly grey, white and black. Aqua is a lovely colour that is perfect for summer!

Joy - deep colours feel very autumn/end of the year. I think I'll use more of my light grey and whites/cream now.

Runcarla - wow, I'm impressed at how organized you are! A weekly theme sounds great, but I realize I don't have that many colours in my closet... Thanks for the closet pic. Always a hit!

always trying - I'll bring out my whotes, to! White jeans have been on my wish list for two years.

Suz - Love your style and always think you create so coherent outfits. Yay for a core colour with all its variations.

Elizabeth P - Wowo thats for the visuals! I'll take a closer look for sure.

unfrumped - lilac and orchid are gorgeous colours!

ecteacher0000 - hot pink / burgundy combo - I'll copy that!

I wear burgundy all year round - it's one of my neutrals. I pair it with light blue (chambray), brilliant white, rich cream and my favourite, hot pink. I also like it paired with silvery grey and silvered lilac for those dressy occasions.

Much like Suz, I keep a consistent pallet but change the proportions. My neutrals are black, navy and white. My colours are the pure saturated versions. In the winter I wear a lot of black and navy, and primarily cobalt, teal, purples, dark pinks, and a bit of red. White tends to be an accent. But in the summer I lighten up with a lot more white, turquoise, and more colour. In the fall I start to cover up, but still wear the lighter colours, ie my white jeans get worn a lot. The spring tends to be lighter and more colourful as well, esp after a long dark winter.

Idea! Below are screen shots of my work wardrobes.
Suz on "Colours for Jan/Feb?"

I keep a similar palette all year but vary the proportions and intensities.

My core is always blue (from ink to navy to denims to light chambray and in summer, I also include cobalt). To that, I add white -- especially in spring/ summer (less so but still there in fall/ winter).

My other key neutrals are taupe and greys (all shades from charcoal to dove) -- but I wear these primarily in fall/ winter.

My colours are cranberry red and other dark reds (in winter) and berry tones (in winter, mostly); plum or orchid (spring, fall, winter, summer) and occasionally, greens or teal. I treat black as a colour also and do wear it across seasons but mostly only as bottoms in winter.

In summer, I wear blue and optic white so much! It's amazing how many of my outfits rely on that combination.

In spring, it's a lot of navy with white and some taupe.

In fall, I lean towards the greys, plums, taupes.

In winter (December - end of March/ April) I wear more black, charcoal, etc. but do my best to lighten up with greys and off-white along with vibrant reds.

Until I came on this board I only wore bright white in summer. Now I have worn my white jeans thru autumn with oranges, dark reds, and brown. I will continue this all year. This is the first time I will be wearing Angie's white out, but I will be wearing the "other whites" creams, greyish whites, lite beige colors that are , to me. winter whites. This will be a change for me, and am looking forward to not wearing so much black! Also have new cognac tall boots and cognac booties, and have been wearing them with black pants and jeans. This is a new look for me, and I am really liking it. I do not wear many pastels, and the only ones I have are summery clothes. Somehow navy seems very spring to me, so do not have any wintery garments in navy.

My closet is sorted by colour, with all seasons 'Out' at the same time, but I rearrange the order so it looks a little different, every 4 months, and just did so this week!

I make up a weekly work capsule on the weekend (for fast am dressing) and tend to pick a weekly colour theme. Angie's tomatoe, wine, cognac, white ensemble, resulted in crazy love for tomatoe red. December was very black, white, and tomatoe red, with a little wine.

For January I've been thinking of playing with blues and wine. (See pic below). Cobalt, denim, and navy for the blues. When that is exhausted playing with black and white and cobalt, then black, white, and grey and wine.

Some yellow items haven't been worn since the summer. They are a bright, sunny yellow, in light weight fabrics more appropriate to warm weather. A couple of turquoise items I use for winter getaways (Caribean!) or the hottest part of summer.

I actually change a chunk of my closet after the holidays especially to new colors so that I'm not so sick of my winter things in March. I will put away the shiny, much of the deep color and much of the red. I will bring out more light grey, white and some tan neutrals, blush jeans and chunky sweater, and some warm mint and pink tops. I also plan to wear lots of whiteout outfits. Navy (nautical) and pastels usually hit the stores in January. I will plan to wear my chunky navy sweater with white or other light bottoms rather than black or my dark plaid. My winter light wardrobe does not have as much color as spring or summer but it is a nice change that I am looking forward to.

The neutrals I wear cover all seasons, but I use aqua only in summer, and generally don't wear red in summer because it feels too hot. So I guess I do a bit of both! I think for winter I'm going to do lots of whites and creams, as they feel so fresh after years of dark colours.

All autumn I've been loving burgundy, red, whites, black and a touch of brown. Now that the New Year is here i feel a need to refresh the colour scale. I'm thinking of pairing a light blue button down shirt with burgundy jeans, but then what? Do you follow certain colours for differnt seasons? I know Angie loves white jeans, but I don't have any. It's on my wish list. I live in a four season climate and the winters can be icy cold with lots of snow, but now all the snow has melted because of rain. It's all very grey, wet and dark outside.
