Unlike skinny jeans they don't hug my curves but float over them. They have never really gone away in the US. Men have worn them for years as well as preppy women. Traditionally, they have side pockets. They don't work on me as an hourglass with pear hips. The difference is the material. Mine are cotton from H&amp;M in white (2 pair) and one navy - I stuck to classic colors to try them out. I love them so much I wish I had bought more. I think I may even have a slightly poisoned eye for chinos. They are a very preppy style, like khakis. I have orange ones (H&amp;M) and some acorn colored ones from Jcrew sale.
