As long as you don't slip in the snow and ice, anything is OK in my book. One has to be practical when the weather is extreme.
Sorry that the gap did not work.

Thanks for your opinion, Joyce. Unfortunately, I won't be able to wear the skirt with a gap, because the skirt comes about an inch below my knee, and the boots are about the same height. I checked it in the mirror, and there isn't a gap except when I walk (then you can see above the boot shaft a little bit). Actually, a gap can make me look stumpy (breaks up my leg line too much, and I'm short already), so that's probably a good thing. Also, I was glad there wasn't a gap because I will be layering leggings under the skirt when it gets cold, and I don't want them to be visible.

I would also be wearing the skirt with snow boots. How is that for fashion forward?

I think the skirt can look nice with those suede boots if there is a little gap between it and the top of the boots. Plus it will keep you nice and warm in the cold Winter.
Obviously I don't have Angie's expertise and I may be wrong but I like the idea of the skirt with the suede boots with the gap.

Thanks, Angie. I may have to return the skirt (*sigh*)...just don't know if I can get enough use out of it without knee-high footwear. Even by November it's often too cold for just tights. I'd check out the striped Halogen box-pleat skirts instead, but I tried the cream and black one that you have, and it was just too much skirt for me. The leather skirt seemed to hang straighter, which works for my body type.

I'll have to play around in my closet and see if I think I can make do with tights and maybe some knee-length shorts over the tights for warmth. The skirt does come just below my knee, so maybe with booties and tights it won't be as bad as I think, if I can find some suitable long underwear that ends at the knee. But then there's still the snow...my booties have smaller-diameter heels than my knee-high boots, and it's probably not safe to wear them at all during the winter. Argh.

Maybe Deb's skirt got creases from bad packaging? Maybe they could steam it at Nordstrom and fix the pleats with that. I do agree with returning it, I also like my purchases to be impeccable when I receive them, but I think the skirt can be fixed if one wants to go through the trouble.

Gigi, the skirt is a warm shade of dark brown. I think it's very pretty.

Oh, Deb. That's so annoying. You were right to return it. I would have too.

I have Inge's burgundy skirt here, and the pleats are perfect.

I was disappointed in the condition the burgundy skirt arrived in. So much so that I returned it. The pleats in the center were really messed up and I know it would have bugged me.

Angie, do you think that it's too much leather even if the boots are suede and thus contrast with the skirt? If I have to wear non-knee-high boots with this skirt, I will freeze. I wanted to wear it in the winter, and that requires knee-high boots for my climate.

Personally, I think tall leather boots and a leather skirt is too much leather. Leather booties are fine though. Or pumps, flats or oxfords.

I know that several fabbers have put the Halogen pleated leather skirt into their finds. I was in Nordie's today and bought this skirt in black, because they don't carry burgundy in the store. I am still considering ordering the burgundy and returning the black, but it depends on the shade of the burgundy. Online, it looks pretty much just like a dark brown. Can anyone who ordered this skirt tell me whether it looks more reddish in person?

My main reason for checking this out is I want to wear my Aquatalia Rhumba boots with the skirt, and the boots are a dark brown suede. They look OK with the black skirt, and I know that dark brown and black is "in," but I am wondering if the burgundy would look better. So if the burgundy is for all intents and purposes simply a dark brown, with very little red in it, it might work better for me.

Thanks!
