I took it twice and both times got a 4 with the blue/green area being the problem. Maybe that's why I don't wear very much of either of those colors.

La Belle, naming colors is a whole different thing. My son and I can go on for days about the demarcations you mentioned. I was surprised to learn that the Somali word for blue is...blue! (Or maybe blook or blewk--same pronounciation with a K at the end). None of my friends could tell me anything about what that color was called before that word entered the language. I'd never thought about colors (as opposed to color preference) as a cultural thing before, so this blew my mind.

This was really interesting, thank you for posting it! I got a zero (perfect score) - but that didn't surprise me, because I 'rechecked' my work, by rearranging the tiles to see if there was a difference, whenever I wasn't sure.

If there were a test where you had to differentiate between royal purple and royal blue, and between that fiery orange color, vs. red.... that's where I would fail. I always see purple, where others see blue, and I always see coral red, where others see orange.

I usually get perfect scores on these, and generally have a good memory for colors. That doesn't mean I understand how color works, for example in the filters and settings in photo apps. There are a few instances where I can't remember color correctly, and consistently pick the same wrong color. It happens very rarely--usually I'm the one who can nail the paint chip on the first try.

It's not so surprising that a lot of YLFers do well on color awareness tests, I guess. I, too, had a perfect score on the one I took. Color is catnip for me--I love to pick out paints and fabrics, and when I shop, I can always exactly match an item to one I left at home. Color memory, they call it. Clearly, you have it, too, J'aileen!

Thanks for posting this. It was interesting and fun, too.

I did it twice, once yesterday, and once today. Yesterday, I was outside with my ipad and got 4. Today I was inside and got 0.

When I was a kid, my mother and I were at the paint store and she wanted to buy more of the color in our living room, a bluish green. They couldn't find our card right away (this was before computers). I went over to the samples and pulled one. I told my mother, this is it. When they found our card, I had picked the right one.

Ack. I took a different test, and I'm sure I'd flunk this one! I really never thought I was so bad. I took art! I did the colour wheel!

I do know this: I'm far pickier about paint than clothes, but I can make paint colours and not clothes colours. Also, I don't fiddle with my TV screen colour, but my brother does. I wonder if I'd have a better score with cards as opposed to an illuminated screen...

X-Rite/Colormunki is one of the big names in color management, and their tools are used by photographers to calibrate monitors for color accuracy (I use a competitor's tool, but only because it was a better deal on Amazon at the time I was looking).

In a recent thread, rachylou mentioned a color hue test to test your ability to differentiate colors. I found one online (http://www.xrite.com/hue-test) and took it and got a perfect score (yay!).

I do find that I am very particular about finding just the right shade of a color when I shop, or having just the right shade of a color to match with other pieces in an ensemble. It made me wonder whether this pickiness has to do with my having good color vision.

On the test, I did struggle a bit with the first section (salmon to olive), and I do find IRL that I have a harder time differentiating between blushes.

Do you find that you are very particular about colors and having just the right shade? If so, do you test well on a color vision test, like I linked to above?
