Laurie, your top looks very intentional and pretty. There just seem to be so many pieces on the market right now that look like the cold shoulder detail was added as an afterthought because it is "in", as opposed to being a considered style choice. I wonder if that is what is causing so many of us to have developed a poison eye for them.
Janet's recent purchase also looks like a deliberately designed shape. Not surprising from Bailey 44.
I'm not doing that much in-person shopping these days either. But I do enjoy the in-store experience at Lou & Grey. The stores are so well-designed, the racks aren't stuffed full and the service is more like an upscale specialty store than a mall retailer. And that really soft fabric is terrific, isn't it?

I agree with Firecracker, "Never say never" is a great motto here. I am not a cold shoulder fan, they just look awkward to me, but I do like this slit style. Thanks for sharing.

I like the slit sleeves a lot better, and a whole lot better than all the other cold-shoulder tops I've seen. Great choice!

Never say never is a good motto here! It takes me a while to adjust to some trends, and then I may be among the last to give them up
The top is pretty, and I'm glad you found one that works for you!

I bought a cold shoulder top when they first came out because they looked like a good way to keep flabby arm parts covered in hot weather. I also bought one that had slits that could be sewn shut and still be worn, thinking the trend would be short. It also looks good with my orange jacket.

That is a cute top! I just bought two and find them a good way to feel a bit more current. One from NAS (which will be a to/from gym top) and a cute Camo one from Sanctuary (I am 'finds' illiterate). In the past I would probably keep buying more but 2 is my limit for trends.

My eye is starting to soften a bit towards the ones with slits rather than cutouts. I still think temperature regulation would be an issue for me, but I tried one on that I liked, so I think I'd get one with slits if I could find the right one. This Lou & Grey one looks very nice.

It's nice to get out and try things on because you can see everything and try on loads without having to worry about returns. This is a very flattering version of the cold shoulder look with more flattering vertical lines. The cutout look gives a big horizontal line across the chest which is not that flattering on most. Good find!

I've see some of these slits online, think they look way better than the usual cold shoulder (which reminds me of those little loops
dresses have to help them hang right, or of sunburnt shoulders) and this top looks really nice. Have you worn it yet?

Laurie - I'm not a cold shoulder fan (I'm always cold and I'm always wearing a blazer so what's the point of pretty sleeves!!) but that's a really lovely top. Sorry it was breezy, although it looks like you could layer easily if you needed to. But it's elegant, practical but gives you a wonderful current option that is extremely alluring!! Wishing you warm weather to enjoy your beautiful top!!

Yes, I thought this was a no-go for me, but reaized I like the sleek ones. Just haven't seen them as much as the flouncy floral types. First cold shoulder piece I liked was a tailored jacket. Pointed out a sleek top to Mr Max, thinking he would find it frivolous, but of course he was enthusiastic. "Anything that shows off your shoulders!" So, looking for one for home/loungewear. Yours and Janet's are good candidates; now just to see what fits.

I like this style of cold-shoulder top! I think it's much more forgiving of round shoulders (like I have, don't know what yours are like!). Also more comfortable - I've actually found most of the other style to be somewhat restricting, like how it feels when your bra strap has slipped down and is kind of cutting into your arm.

I like this style, but I was a cold shoulder fan before and after most on the forum rejected the style. I just like to keep the rest of the style simple and sophisticated -- in a solid neutral, for example. I like cold shoulder styles that are almost more like an off-the-shoulder look but with substantial straps that hold the top up and also hide bra straps. This style seems to flatter my body type too.

That looks like a great top for you, and I would love to see your outfit photos with it!

I think you may be right that the slit is more graceful than the circular cut-outs. There *may* be a cold-shoulder top out there for me, if I keep looking.

I actually went into a store yesterday! I can't remember the last time I did that - everything is online with me lately. It was nice to try things on. I have not been attracted to the cold shoulder look, at all, for myself. But I was taken with this Lou & Grey top. First - it's the softest thing ever, and second, i like this version of cold shoulder with a slit, instead of that cut-out look with a separate sleeve on the upper arm that is more prevalent.

Sat outside on the patio for a late dinner and remarked that my shoulders were, indeed, cold when the breeze blew!

Nice top. Will model it soon. Looks better with the sleeves down, in my opinion, rather than scrunched.
