This summer I have noted that my feet often feel cold, even when I feel a bit sweater and am wearing closed shoes. I assume it is poor circulation--my hands get very cold in the freezer department of the grocery store. I haven't been as active physically this summer, but it could definitely be an age thing.

it could also be low thyroid. Hm--when did I last have my thyroid levels checked?

Overall this summer has been cooler than normal and I haven't worn sandals that much. This is a symptom to pay attention to.

Mmmm I am not sure I like the look of booties and loafers with summer dresses, but I haven't tried. I have fussy feet so pumps and ballet flats are difficult. My feet are a bit of a torment, really!

Closed kitten heel pumps might work, I should look into this, although I haven't seen them around, maybe they are not fashionable now?

I was thinking that spadrilles like these might work too, I think they are cute and (hopefully) confortable, too:

http://calzadoslobo.com/compon.....ad5f99.jpg

I havent used espadriles since I was 10 or so, how do you like them?

I live and work without air conditioning so always wear sandals all summer and own almost no regular shoes (boots/ booties/ and sandals are my standbys). BUT, I recently had to attend a workshop for my job, and we shut in an air conditioned room for two days and I swear my feet were blocks of ice by the end of the first day! So I sympathize.

I think if your feet are properly warm your legs won't be as big a problem, and while you may or may not need more footwear, you probably do need footwear that functions better for your specific needs. Angie never wears sandals because she runs chilly and lives in a climate that rarely gets super hot (and she prefers closed footwear anyway). So it's possible to do this.

Non sandal options -- booties, oxfords, pumps, loafers...lots to choose from!

My vote is for more footwear! How about high vamp footwear like shooties or booties with skirts/dresses? My feet tend to get cold, so I've worn my tan booties quite a bit this summer. SmartWool no show socks underneath really help, too.

Ah, yeah, 12 pairs is not a lot - but it depends how functional they are!

Right now I have:

Black pumps

Navy pumps

Patent off-white pumps

Brown riding boots

Roan boots

Purple running shoes (the gym!)

Purple rain boots (gum boots)

Brown gear boots (for -40)

Dark grey/pewter flats

Silver flats

Wedge sandals

Flip flops (for the pool or hotels)

Elly, I do not have any health problem, only this annoying thing with cold feet. I read once that it is a common problem among women, something related to hormones. I have thought about tossing a cardigan over my legs, but unfortunately all desks have an open front (why?) so everybody would see it and I think it would look weird. Getting up and walking around every now and then is a good idea, and healthy, only if I could remember to do it, I suspect I would only remember when I feel my feet are already cold (and then it is difficult to get them warm again). Maybe I should set Outlook alerts? LOL.

Lyn, when wearing dresses my lower legs get somewhat cold, too, so I am more confortable wearing pants. Though it is not as bad as my feet, those are the real problem.

Maybe part of the problem is that I do not have enough shoe options, I think I should probably buy some pairs that are right for my circumstances. I am thinking this may be part of the problem, especially after reading Janet's post about shoe collections and realizing I only own 12 pairs total (all seasons and trainers included!).

I wear closed-toed pumps at work which keep my toes warm I don't see why you have to be restricted to pants ...?

I have chronically cold feet because of a medical issue that causes poor circulation, but I definitely don't let it limit me to pants. Unless you are wearing pants because your legs are too cold in the office, I don't see why you couldn't wear skirts and dresses with pumps, flats, oxfords, ect. Plus, depending on how public your desk is, I don't see a problem with keeping a wrap at your desk and tossing it over your legs while you work. It might be a good idea to get up and move around occasionally anyway, which should also help. There is always the option of wearing what you want to work and keeping a pair of oxfords or neutral pumps at the office to change into.

I have always had a tendency to have cold feet and this summer it has become very annoying. I work in an office with AC and my current position involves sitting at the desk/computer for long hours. I often check the temperature at my desk (with a small thermometer I have) and it is 23 ºC (73.4 ºF), so I think it is correct. But as I am sitting still most of the time, my feet, particularly my toes, are chilly. So I can not wear sandals or any open-toe shoe. Lately I have even added sheer hose and it helps. Of course, with these footwear restrictions, I can only wear pants. Very restricting and very annoying, especially taking into account we have had the hottest summer in years!

Do any of you have this problem?
