This spring I focused on adding a couple of trendy platform and sporty sandals to my wardrobe, but now I want something with a more refined profile yet still casual. It’s a balance I’m not finding much at retail right now. I want something that is not another slide, and with straps that are not too thick and heavy, but also not so thin as to be nearly insubstantial. Simple smooth leather (not perforated or too detailed — a little silver hardware would be ok). I don’t want anything with a sporty sole or a substantial heel. I poked around in a nearby store yesterday that carries comfort lines and found zero that appealed to me or fit properly. Apparently Vionic is made for a foot that is a little wider or more volume than mine, and the vibe is not quite right.</p> <p>The Mango site has some cute shoes that strike the right balance, but I don’t see what I’m looking for in that color. </p> <p>It’s not a need, so I’m not anxious to fill it, just curious. In the meantime I will carry the cognac bag with outfits that go, and not worry about matchy shoes! They all seem comfy in the beginning and then they rub and hurt. I have the Naturalizer ones that Angie has from last year but the heel strap slips down horribly, they are however very comfy. They’re already packed back up for return. </p> <p>I was hoping for a good refined casual sandal to complement the cognac bag I just bought. I don’t want more chunky sandals at the moment, and nothing too super-casual. I have that territory well covered. I’m not seeing anything else with this kind of vibe around. I’m being really picky about style, but not much in that color is speaking to me. Most of the ones I’m seeing are just too basic-looking. Others are too busy or too boho. I like how the Weitzmans are airy but have some presence, IYKWIM. </p> <p>Any suggestions or ideas? I cruised through the mall last night while getting a watch battery replaced and was thoroughly underwhelmed.</p> <p>PS. I could just give up on the idea of cognac sandals. I do tend to like to echo the color of my accessories elsewhere in an outfit, even though I know this is a neutral. Hmm. </p>
