Thanks Bonnie and all. This was an urge because I had time on my hands being at home unwell and I recognise now that I was looking to spend for comfort..... Whist I do like all these coats I don't think any are quite right for me..

- the plaid does skew a bit too casual
- the rust doesn't close
- the blue is probably not the right style and whilst the colour appeals as a change, I agree that it might be harder for me to wear...

It was great for all the input though - it made me see these aspects that I hadn't identified myself, because I think they all look great on the model.

And spending money to cheer yourself up is not really the right reason is it... (I am almost back to full health now after 2.5 weeks - yay).

Thanks Brooklyn - I am going to pause. The rust one does look a little thin. And I agree coats are hard to find in this part of the world. I do want one that really speaks to me - and I can wait as the coldest months are over. If I see the right piece I will pounce.

Will check out Treneey too.

Late here.

I like the rust best for you. But I wonder how thick it would be. It looks lightweight.

I don’t think this year has been good for coats. I’ve also had my eye out. Haven’t bought a coat in about 5 years and figure I could now shout myself a new one. But I have not been very impressed. Everything is double breasted and/or high poly/acrylic content and/or thin. Before the lockdown I had a look at Saba coats (owned by Sportscraft) and I felt they had more of a long jacket vibe than a coat vibe.

Did you look at Trenery? My last coat is from them.

By the way, you know about PayPal refunded returns don’t you? You can claim cost of returning items from them (I think about 8 times a year). Handy and they make it pretty easy for you.

Thanks so much everyone. I have had a terrible couple of days with emergency dentist and sinus infection so have been out of action.

I was drawn to the plaid - but agree that the patch pockets might be annoying. I am thinking I might pause and wait until I feel better (and more positive) before considering them.

Whilst our climate is not super cold I would like to be able to close a coat. And since I have a short toffee coat with a belt tie, I probably don't want another one.

So good to have your opinions - much better eyes than me! Much appreciated:)

The first very much intrigues me for you. The tied-belt one worries me a little... feels "sausage-y" to me. The rust seems very dark; I'm back and forth on it.

Great selection! I think the pale blue coat would be the most difficult to mix with your wardrobe. The plaid option would work very well and the pattern is actually a nice addition to the outwear, which is mainly solid colours.

If you want a wild card, how about a coat in blush? I think a pop of colour would be great in winter.

The plaid coat and the rust one - good possibilities for your collection.
The pale blue is fun but the belting is putting me off a bit ( personal preference - just difficult to style it right ). Lovely choices all together.

I love them all but also see possible problems.

The plaid is so much fun and such a lovely classic cut, and it can be awfully nice to have a patterned coat, especially if you wear a lot of solids underneath. Also, the colour combo would transition well into cool spring. However -- patch pockets tend to be less comfortable and useful than side entry pockets. Does it possibly have both?

LOVE that cinnamon colour for you -- nice fall through winter coat. With a fun dramatic collar (I am a sucker for those). However, does it have closures? I couldn't tell. For me a coat that doesn't close is. a no-go.

Blue -- gorgeous colour. Like LisaP I wonder if it would work on you in winter. It would be lovely and cheerful, regardless. I think the trench shape suits you well and it is so classic.

Well since this is a want rather than a need, perhaps you should picture the times you wish you had a different coat and which one you would choose then. Or else the plaid .

Out of three coats the plaid one looks the most casual. I like the rust one but like suntiger, I noticed it doesn’t have buttons. Would it bother you?
The pale blue is nice, I just don’t see it working with blush or pink with a level of sophistication you usually display.

I love the plaid coat for you. Gorgeous colours and different from your other coats. A statement coat is so fun to wear, pop it on with jeans and a sweater and you look instantly dressed up. Buying a coat now, when we still have half of winter to go and the coat is on sale makes sense to me.

I like the first one. The background colour ‘bookends’ your hair, and rust/orange goes with some of your new stuff (like your new cords) and the darker beige/camel goes with some older items - including footwear - plus your new cross body bag! I think it would look great with your blacks, and navy, as well as blue jeans. You wouldn’t have to work too hard to make it work with what you already have, while being different from all your current cold weather coats.

Such a shame we don’t live closer! Sportscraft is now in my local shopping centre, Milford, and also in Albany Westfield. I have been in a few times but not bought anything as yet. I like the things but I suspect find them a little conservative for me. And a bit expensive knowing my tight-wad ways!
I was told that the CEO in Australia is a Kiwi and so was keen to get back into our market, having been in it years ago and then closing.
Onto the coats- they are all nice except I don’t like the tie on the blue one, prefer it without. To me I am afraid the ties always make the coats look like dressing gowns!
I think the spice/terracotta one is my favourite for you.

I love those two plaid ones Fashintern. Both are really good!

Coats are tricky as they are pricey, and theoretically need to go with lots of different things. And our climate is not cold for all that long so for me it is a want not a need... unlike a raincoat!!

I liked the pink one you tried on last week in terms of shape (and colour) but thought that the fabric might be too dressy for your needs.

All three are really nice looking coats ! Although the pale blue is my favourite here for style , is that a good winter colour for you ? The rust one would be my choice for colour for you - but maybe I’m projecting my own colouring on you ? We’re kind of similar in that regard , no?

Hi All

I have been keeping an eye out for a new smart coat. I haven't seen much that appeals and was browsing on the Sportscraft website (long standing Australian retailer - to my mind a quality brand on the more conservative side)

I saw these three options - all on sale - at prices that are reasonable.

I could order and try them, returns are possible but not easy nor free. I would be tempted to just order my top pick.

All the colours below would work with enough of my winter wardrobe - denim, black, blush, pinks being the main work colours.

My existing coats are in the finds below (one is a raincoat and one is a puffer). I am looking for an update on the teal which I am keeping but not liking as much as I used to.

I also can sit on my hands - I have options and this is a want rather than a need at the moment.
