I do have a lot of outwear because I don’t drive and need appropriate clothing for various weather conditions. Most of it old, from my working days.
I wear my preferred colors all seasons. Mostly, my spring/fall/early summer coats are in two lengths.
1 midi quilted coat in green
1 hip length quilted jacket in black
1 unlined wool midi coat in dark olive
1 hip length unlined wool jacket in navy
1 cropped unlined wool jacket in brown
1 midi cotton trench in dark green
1 midi unlined cotton trench in camel
1 hip length cotton jacket in mint
Also, some light short jackets in cotton and linen.

When it gets warmer, I wear some linen and tropical wool blazers as jackets. Plus, a rain shell and packable, lightweight Uniqlo puffer for travel.

Really interesting seeing all your coats. We need a lesser range of coats here. Yesterday in the rain I put my very non-fashionable raincoat that I have owned since 2004, from a sporting goods store, over my outfit to run into a medical centre from the carpark. I need more jackets and cardigans for the different temperatures, and I wear similar colours no matter the time of year as I don’t feel the quality of the light changes that much between autumn and spring? Different kind of light down here in the Southern Hemisphere?!

Generally same coats in spring and fall. I don't have a lot of them because it is a very short season here in Michigan. I have a couple of light weight puffers that I wear for warmer winter days and for spring/fall. I also have an oversized white denim jacket (wore today for the first time this spring!) and a raincoat and a few vests. They are all good for transitional weather. In the summer I wear cardigans for cold mornings and evenings and AC. Spring is coming - I can feel it!

I have outerwear for all seasons and temperatures because I love outerwear and absolutely can’t stand to be cold.

Some pieces overlap seasons, which is fine. I love having lots of options. I have one small closet solely for outerwear, so I can always see my collection in its entirety.

So, yes, I do wear the same coats/ jackets in spring and fall, but with exceptions. Summer is a separate category.

Like Angie, on the cold spring days like yesterday/ today, I am wearing my winter coats! I'll wear my lilac wool in cold spring (March) or my long blue wool coat or one of the light puffers.

On cold fall days, I'd be more likely to reach for the blue or reds.

As things warm up into true but still cool-ish spring, my choices are: leather trench, leather moto, or sweaters with a raincoat over top.

Once it's warmer, as well as for summer AC or cooler days/evenings, it is denim jacket or linen jacket or a light tweed jacket. The raincoat is oversized so can go over these if required.

I usually cannot wear the same jackets/coats for Spring and Fall for the sole reason of the wrong color. I always crave different colors or shades for the 2 transitional seasons: muddy and dustier for the Fall and clearer and brighter ones for Spring. For ex. I do have butter yellow, light blue, cream, off white, taupe, blush, bl&w plaid coats (pleather motos, trenches/raincoats, thin puffers, denim or blazers) for Sping and charcoal, burnt orange, ink, deeper-warmer tan or taupes, chartreuse plaid and even plain black for the Fall.

I seldom use a topper in summer, but I like to have a range of choices when I feel like using one. A cotton/linen blazer or a light lacey cardi can do me great favors (prefferable in cream/white or dark brown) But to my own surprise my most loved topper last summer was a very sharp tailored and structured olive green army look (such a great unexpected juxtaposition, isn't it) short coton jacket- just loved it on coller mornings/evenings over EVERYTHING!

In late autumn, winter and early spring I wear wool coats or light puffers. In spring and autumn bombers or blazers usually suffice. Summer is all over the place and I can go weeks without a topper and then need a layer for a week. I could wear my raincoat at any stage of the year!!

Light puffers are very popular here. They are worn all year and much more prevalent than anything else.

Spring can be freezing - like yesterday! - and I wear Winter wool coats, puffers, and beanies at the beginning of Spring and throughout Winter. As it warms up, I switch to trenches and jackets. I wear the same jackets and trenches in the Autumn :)

My arctic Canadian puffer only comes out when it snows.

I wear my brown sherpa aviator in the Autumn and Winter only - not Spring.

I have lots of transitional jackets because we need them in the PNW! Motos, raincoats, light puffers, '70s jackets, tweed jackets, blazers. We can wear them well into June and July. I also wear some in Winter layered under coats. And I wear them in Autumn!

My denim jackets, and tweed jackets I wear only in the Spring and Summer. A/C is cold so I wrap up inside. It can be chilly walking by the water where we live too.

I used to have a jacket or coat for every temperature /precipitation fluctuation possible . However, age and common sense finally kicked in and I've narrowed that down to what I have room for. Yes I do wear the same outerwear both Spring and Fall - among them an ivory boiled wool long shirt jacket from Aritizia and a cinnamon quilted cotton long coat from Steve Madden . Both are at least 7 years old and going strong. My raincoat is black , and I also have a cotton blend mackinstosh style beige coat from COS that get worn 2-3 times a year. I don't love my black raincoat and always wish it was a different colour, but it's such a perfect style for me that I roll my eyes and bear it. I was another who commented on Suz's white jacket and wish I had such a thing for this time of year. Today I plan on wearing a brown corduroy Ralph Lauren pea coat that I scored second-had a couple of years ago . The weather cooperates about twice a year for it, lol.

Jackets in summer might be a fleece or zip-up hoodie = worn mostly at the lake or on evening walks at home .

I have some lighter *colored* jackets for spring, and darker for fall. I also tend to wear more casual jackets in the spring…track jackets, wind breakers. My leather jackets get less wear in the spring because they are darker colored and I am so over it by then, lol. So I guess I have different jackets for the bridge seasons—even though I could wear them equally.

I tend to wear denim jackets in the summer, at nightfall when it gets cooler, or in restaurants.

I need jackets for 4 seasons here in New England. I just accept it and I do have storage room.

Ok not going to lie. I might own different outerwear for every temperature. One thing I can not stand is being cold, just can not.
so this is pretty much what I wear when it’s between 45F/10C and 70F/21C. Sometimes alone, sometimes layered
in the summer, it’s fleece and denim.

LOL! Star and Sisi, I just posted on Suz’s thread that I put away my heavy puffer and started wearing my spring/fall coats and jackets with heavier sweaters underneath!

Spring coat/jacket wearing is about 6 weeks from the end of March, through April, and into early May. Fall coat/jacket weather is November. (Winter is December through March). My observation is that spring tends to be wet, whereas Fall tends to be dry. I have a pastel coat with the properties of a raincoat that gets worn heavily in spring, and much less in the fall. Otherwise, I wear my transitional season coats and jackets in both spring and fall.

For summer, I have a blue denim jacket and a tropical weight wool blazer.

I feel like leather and suede is for fall, though I don’t currently own a leather jacket.

I like Suz’s idea of having a light coloured (white) puffer for late winter/cold spring, when dark coloured puffers feel too heavy visually. Something to think about!

I wear bombers, vests, and fleeces for transitional weather. Usually layered over a graphic tee ( short or long sleeve depends on temperature). I also really like layering these styles over plaid shirts. I have a faux suede jacket that also works well. Columbia fleeces work really well for our cold mornings warm afternoons and my casual style.

I used to wear trench coats and mid weight nylon coats in spring especially on rainy days and days I went in to an office daily but they don’t really fit my current lifestyle so I’ve edited them out over time.

SISI I just commented to my DH yesterday that we are experiencing Cruel Spring. I do keep out a shorter puffer. I only remove the heaviest longer two. I also have a medium weight anorak type jacket with a hood that usually gets worn until the end of May. I do have a bad habit of being 'overly ambitious' by ditching my deep winter items too early every year. Wishful thinking.

Sounds like SISI (we cross posted) and i have similar needs. I have a linen blazer supposedly for summer, but it is always too hot for a layer. Then it is not warm enough when the weather suddenly changes.

I had moved my heaviest puffer out of rotation only to find I had to get it back for early mornings! I was planning on wearing heavy knits with lighter jackets but the current cold spell is just too cold. I'm staying in my sneakers though, done with boots.

No jackets in summer and the same jackets for Spring and Fall. I have many. The reason being the jackets I wore in winter in Johannesburg are suitable for S/F here on the Black Sea. That said I have different ones for Early Spring/Late Fall and Late Spring/Early Fall IYKWIM. The breeze factor by the water means I need some type of jacket for 10 months of the year. Coats are for winter. Does this make sense?

I wear the same coats (and puffers) in both Spring and Fall. No need of coats in our hot and sultry Summers, I only have two lightweight jackets ( one cotton, one linen) that get worn just for a few days, when the temps are still ... reasonable.
