Maya I've been thinking about this too. I have 23 items so far in my swap bag to bring and I figure yourself, or Bella at the minimum will fit into them. Of course liking the items is up in the air. :)

I'm not sure who else is going so I don't know how many other potentials there are for these clothes. April not sure, she is so tiny, but I also plan to bring some belts and scarves so pickings are not limited to just clothes. Shoes is what I balk at, I wear 8.5 and if no one else does, I won't lug them to CT with me then.

Zap, I don't think there is any need to make it a two-step process and inundate your inbox. I'll just start a new thread and periodically bump it over the course of the week.

Maya - I think Juli's idea is really good (specially for the CT swap, which I predict will be smaller in size). it would help to know sizes before hand.

I can volunteer to poll or summarize sizes if everyone sends me the info. via PM.

Maya - I totally agree. If you are only going to have 3 - 5 people, it does make sense to find out about sizes and I don't think it would be a huge issue logistically to figure that out! Maybe send around a spreadsheet for everyone to put in their top/bottom/dress/shoe sizes?

Juli, I think that's the key here. Most of the swaps aren't going to have nearly that many people. Seattle is YLF headquarters so I can see why there is such high attendance. In some areas there might be as few as 3 people. If they are all different sizes, is there really a point in bringing clothes at all? Probably not, and it's worth it to know ahead of time. I don't see why it would hurt.

I think it really depends on the number of people attending the swap. The ones that I have participated in have had anywhere from 15 - 25 people attending and there have been a variety of sizes. We didn't communicate sizes before hand, but somehow everyone was able to go home with something they loved. And - the items that weren't taken were given to Dress for Success so they had a good home as well!

Kari, I'm thinking ahead--before the swap, not during. I have tons of clothes I could offer up in theory, but what I bring should primarily be based on what the other attendees can wear. At least, that's what seems to make sense. I know sizes aren't clear cut but it would at least be helpful to know the range.

Let's say everyone at the swap was in the 6-8-10-12 range (random example), and I'm a 0-2-4. That would help me rule out bringing anything in a 0 or 2, and focus on what I have in a 4, because some of the size 6 ladies might potentially be able to wear a 4.

I guess in my case it's a little simpler since I think Lisa, Bella, April, and I are all in the same range (there might be other potential swappers, but I don't know who they are).

Still, might be helpful in deciding what has the best chance of being picked up by someone else.

I was wondering about that as well.

Maybe putting a sticker/tag on the item listing the size in a large print would be helpful.

I have read all the guidelines but still don't understand how to deal with the matter of varying sizes. I'm trying to curate my items and I think the first logical step would be to make sure they could potentially fit someone; meaning, for example, there is no point in bringing lots of size 6 shoes if no one wears a 6. Is it beneficial for the attendees to list their sizes?
