I think the trotters are what you are looking for; they are a classic Chelsea boot. The color is a medium brown, with yellow overtones. Definitely not reddish - the opposite brown from reddish brown. Not milk chocolate, as even that is a little more warm than these. Acorn-colored, I guess, is the best I can come up with.

Michelle, you already got great suggestions here. I would like to add that Blondo Farima may not work for wide feet- they did not work for me in the double width and mine feet are regular bordering wide.
Thank for introducing me to shoeme.ca - what a great website for us Canadians. Of course it is nothing as Zappos but still a great option for online shoe shopping - and they carry my size too! :-)
In case you have not noticed - they have 30% off now on some brands until November 11, maybe a good time to try now. With free shipping and returns there is nothing to lose!
I second cognac color for you. It looks great and rich with black so should be very versatile for you as you wear a lot of black.

Oh, that is such a pity about the Clark's Mariella -- they'd be the perfect bootie for you otherwise.

The one that Angie has linked to is STUNNING and if you can find it or get it from Nordies, then it would definitely be worth a try. In fact, if you want to have it sent to my US address I would pick it up and deliver to you. The only problem is that I'm still ill, and I have no idea when I'll be able to do that short run to the border. I have a few things waiting for me there but have not been able to go pick them up, alas.

I think the cognac would work for you as a neutral, especially if you plan to wear it mostly with denim. It would also look really great with black ponte pants or similar, as long as your tops harmonized well enough.

But truly -- that might simply be a question of buying a cognac bag to bring some cohesion!

Black is easy for you because of your colouring, but cognac would make more of a statement, and is very rich. It's like....mmmm...how to describe? It's warm, like the feeling of a good crackling fire and the smell of wood smoke. It glows. It's a bit more "forward" than plain black.

It looks fabulous with all blues, with creams, with black and grey, with any neutral, really. It might fight a bit with true red or fuchsia or berry...but even then, you can do things to make them work together -- I have worn a cognac belt with a fuschia sweater, for example.

Michelle, these from Munro come in WW, and are a gorgeous colour cognac. They are from Nordies though, but you might be able to find them in Canada.

The cognac of the Trotter's Leah is totally a neutral in my book. I think it's more chestnut than cognac as I don't see any red in it. Reminds me of a hazelnut, or milk chocolate. As Angie has said, brown feels very fresh this fall. I think it would be a great neutral for you, actually. Hopefully someone else can better explain the color, but it's really pretty.

The boot is a true chelsea to my eye. It looks like an equestrian style boot, but ankle length. Very simple and minimal. It has some goring at the ankle and looks like it would be easy to get on and off. I really like it.

WOW!!
You guys are wonderful. Thank you, particularly to Suz and Marianna, for shopping for me!
Here are the additional wrinkles to throw into the mix. :p
My size ranges a bit depending on the widths available. So I can wear a 10.5WW sandal, for instance, but I'm currently wearing 11w in my Munro Robyns. So unfortunately I think this shuts out the Mariella Busbys, which otherwise sound pretty perfect.
The Trotters Leahs that Marianna found sound pretty ideal, but I wonder how I'd do with the konyak colour? It sounds like a very difficult colouur to match properly, since it's not quite neutral. It's also one I have a very hard time picturing and would therefore have a greater challenge styling. Thoughts?

From the links provided and available in a Wide, I like these best --

Blondo Farima
http://www.shoeme.ca/products/.....e-b1983-96

Cool zipper detail on the side

Blondo Fantasia
http://www.shoeme.ca/products/.....a-b1741-11
These look really warm, and urban chic. Resemble a pair of Aquatalias from NAS

Cobb Hill Ginny
http://www.shoeme.ca/products/.....inny-black

Cobb Hill Alexandra
http://www.shoeme.ca/products/.....dra-almond

Both Cobb Hills are dressier than the Blondos, to my eye. Are you looking for a more feminine/dressy boot, or more casual cool?

I'm going to look around bit more, too.

Another thought is a lace up style. I find that booties are the easiest shoe style to fit and lace ups make them even easier. A lace up bootie in a wide width may fill this hole for you.

I was thinking about Clarks in the meantime. They have a nice Chelsea boot this season. Shannon has it and loves it.

So I have a bit of a gap in my shoe wardrobe that's only really come to light as I've updated my style. My beloved Robyn boots will see me through most situations. I've even ordered a pair in cranberry to spice up my colour selection and add a dash of seasonal relevance to the mix. But what I don't have is a higher-shafted boot that still looks half-way current.
I own a flat pair for really snowy days, of course, but I'm thinking of something more in between. Something to offer coverage with boyfriend jeans et al but that will still be safe and comfortable to run around in when sidewalk conditions aren't ideal.
It seems to me that a chelsea-esque boot would be just the thing. But how am I to find one with my absolutely impossible feet? They're extremely wide. No, medium fits will not work, pretty much ever. They're also big. Oh the femininity! :p
The third wrinkle, of course, is my location. Zappos and 6pm don't ship to Canada. Amazon does, but not for any of the footwear options I've looked at. There are other options, fortunately, but some of the ones with the biggest selection are off limits for this particular search.

There is, however, a new site for Canadian shoppers, and they seem to carry a lot of the brands that tend to work for my stupid feet.

Would you ladies be kind enough to browse through the selections on the next 2 links and tell me anything strikes you as a viable option? I'm not opposed to a heel, just not a high one:

Blondo boots:
http://www.shoeme.ca/collectio.....Brand=Blon

Cobb Hill boots:
http://www.shoeme.ca/collectio.....Brand=Cobb
