I think one of the appealing things about steampunk is that it's a historical dress style, but from a&nbsp;<i>fantasy</i> time period, so just about anything goes. No worries about getting details exactly right. Men's fashion dates less than women's, so it's especially easy to incorporate menswear elements, and sure, throw on that Regency-style suede bodice coat that has no grounding in the actual past. It's actually black suede, very heavy, and goes on like a coat, but laces up across the bust. It's not boned or anything--the construction is quite simple. I bought it at a Renaissance Festival, maybe 15 or 16 years ago.</p> <p>&nbsp;I could actually lace it quite a bit tighter than I'm wearing it here, but I figured the steampunk character who'd be wearing pants and boots like this would pretty much just be doing lip service to the whole corset concept.&nbsp;</p> <p>I'll try to get a better picture later, since I have to run out for some errands this afternoon.
