I had a bunch of those lovely padded hangers but I donated them. They just didn't seem practical for several reasons.
I love my skinny Huggable Hangers. No shoulder bumps on my tops and things don't fall off.

I still like the padded hangers, I can't say why though. I began to get them as Christmas presents when I was a teenager and then I started buying them myself. I admit they do take up much more room than the flocked hangers.

I thought they were easier on clothes because of the padding. I never considered slope or length of the hanger. Perhaps I will buy a few and see if I like them.

Toss they take up too much room too. I like the flocked ones for space saving but they leave big shoulder marks in my t-shirts etc. There needs to be narrower hangers that end at the shoulder seam. Kids ones are too small.

I gave my padded hangers to my SIL who says that she loves them. I never liked them. My favorites are the flocked hangers with the little hooks to stack. It makes finding things and organization so much easier. Example: my three black buttondown shirts are stacked, as are striped shirts, 2 black shirts, three print cardigans, 3 oversized silk tees, 3 black dresses, etc. It also alerts me to when I have duplicated too often because the stack is too long.

Not really, I tend to be able to let go (mentally & physically) of what doesn't work for me. Glad you are about to take the plunge

Ha! I think I have a few of those stashed somewhere. I feel I SHOULD use them, even though I never have. But they're just so pretty. And as you said, luxurious.

I also have the flocked one, and I also love them. Really created space for me in a teeny tiny closet.

I know, right? I finally could do that this weekend after staring at them.
It's part of another aha! Why an I keeping these ( clothing, closet items) and so funny that it didn't hit me sooner.
Sometimes an item like that is a breakthrough item to clear the way to other even more helpful changes.

Um....."Let it go, Let it go....." (Sorry, couldn't resist).

Donate those cushy puppies, or give them to a friend. Your closet needs to work well for you, and hangers are relatively inexpensive to replace.

I have the flocked ones -- I love the little clips that let me stack them!

I have a number of those sort of straight but silky- padded hangers because I used to think that was the ticket for garments like sweaters and such.

Over time I've figured out that it's the slope of the shoulders of the hanger, more than padded vs. not padded , that preserves the shoulder line without those peaks or stretched areas.( I like to hang a lot of items). . The padded ones often are worse offenders
So, they're not "sparking joy" yet I was struggling with tossing because for so long they seemed like " luxury" hangers even though I know they're not. Replaceable , too, of course.

About to take the plunge, though!

Have you
unexpectedly had trouble giving up an " idea" in your closet and wardrobe approach even though logic tells you
otherwise?
