I like the idea of using the Uggs for slippers. Outdoor boots that aren’t waterproof seem kind of useless to me. And I live in a desert!

here's what i'd do...
dump the Uggs, nothing worse than wet feet, and unless you live in a really dry place its hard to avoid puddles in the winter...chose the more comfortable and/or easiest to get in and out of between #1 & #2...keep all of the rest as they are different enough for each other...

Sterling, the embroidered Uggs have been sitting in my closet unused for several years. DD and I purchased identical pairs and I adored them at the time. I worked in a private practice and took maybe three steps from my car to a covered walkway before entering my office. The parking lot was immaculately maintained. They are nice because they can work with either the brown or mint green coats, but not at all with my current work setting. For a while I thought maybe they were the sort of item described by Angie in her recent post about items she rarely wears but keeps anyway. I am having a hard time forecasting a circumstance when I will want them in the future. If I miss them, I think Uggs are still going to be available.

Sounds like you ve really thought this through.l think uggs are lovely but the lack of waterproofing does somewhat limit their usage although I see that they are now doing waterproof ones.

OMG! You have such a fabulous, FABULOUS collection.

I concur that your plan is well reasoned and sound.

I of all people on the Forum should easily and comfortably endorse a closet edit, but I feel genuine pain that such beauties are being culled from your closet. Maybe I am not clutter cleaning Goddess I think I am.

Side note: I adore Uggs. Always have. I own two pair. They are too hot for my environment. I will never give them up. Never! I wear them sporadically during our "winter."

This morning I’m testing out the Uggs as slippers around the house. My feet feel cozy and warm. I needed new slippers so this could save me a purchase, which would be nice. DH looks a little puzzled, but Farley approves. He must think I’m trying to copy his furry coat!

I’d probably keep the one’s you mentioned in the last paragraph of your post. I agree with Bijou, Uggs are great slippers in winter and I never see them worn as outdoor footwear in Australia. I’d keep them for comfy, warm loungewear.

Bijou, I never considered wearing the Uggs as slippers! My feet get so cold indoors and that would solve the problem. It would also work for the occasional quick run out to the garage for something accidentally left in my car, or to take out the dog and to get the mail. Hmm, if I were to do that, I would probably go for the shorter pair. They are newer, and I think I only wore them once or twice before I realized my feet were always wet because of the parking lot puddles!

I agree with you assessment and prefer the Aquatilas to the Blondos. Like Joy, I did wonder if you should keep 2 pairs of hiking boots, if you wear them alot.

In Australia most people wear Uggs as slippers, not as boots. So whilst I wear my Uggs most days in winter, it is just around the house with my PJs and never outside.

Waving to your adorable pup!! He looks as cozy as the lining of any of those boots!

I actually like the Blondos for the brown, as different from the others. But if your heart is saying Aquatalia (and I know the siren song of their quality) then definitely keep those. For the rest, I completely agree with your assessment and would get rid of the Uggs, keep the blue hiking boot, and the last two as well.

I would keep the brown boots in #1 and donate those in #2 that are not waterproof, of you keep just one, Aquatilia. Get rid of the Uggs and keep both the hiking boots since they are most worn. It sounds like you made a good decision to cut your collection in half.

My snow boots crowd the bottom of our hall closet. I need to pare them down. My winter coats include grey and brown down puffers, a red and a pink down puffer, and brown and mint green wool coats.

1. I only need 1 brown pair. The first picture are Aquatalia, the second are Blondo. Both have slight wear and need cleaning. Which should I keep?

2. Should I keep either of the UGGs? They are not water resistant so they are of limited utility once puddles form in parking lots. Keep? Not keep?

3. There are 2 pair of Bos Co hiking boots, (pic 4) one blue and one tan. I wear this style boot most often. They are water resistant, secure for walking on icy walkways and warm when paired with wool socks. The grey Sorrells in pic 5 have a warm furry fleece lining making them warm without wool sock. Do I keep all 3?

4. I’m keeping the tall Teva boots. They are hard to put on and take off, but they keep my feet warm and dry, are good for blizzards and coordinate with most of my coats.

I’m leaning towards keeping the brown Aquatalias, the blue hiking boots, the Sorrells, and the Tevas. I think I can easily eliminate both UGGS. I’m on the fence about the Blondos and the tan hiking boots. However, I don’t wear them very often anymore, and eliminating them would cut my collection in half, leaving space but still providing a good variety of functional choices.
