I have to admit being rather horrified when I saw the pictures of me in these dresses - I can't believe I wore all of them last summer, thinking that I looked great! All of them have been expunged from my closet, never to return again. All of you have confirmed my sentiments that none of these look good on me. Thank you!

I think that I had the idea that these dresses drew attention to my waist, which I thought would be good, when what they were really doing was adding bulk to my waist. I'm going shopping this coming Wednesday, and I'm bringing the hourglass guidelines with me. I'm going to focus on finding light fabrics with no pleats/gathers/rouching, particularly at the waist. Shopping is always a challenge for me, but I'm determined to not let myself get overhwhelmed.

The dress I'm wearing while I'm holding dd was an $11 find at Nordstrom Rack. I haven't worn it that much because...I don't know why. I'm going to wear it more often now though, especially since my dress collection has been depleted.

I’m late, but agree with the ladies. None of these dresses are flattering. They make you look bigger than you are. Love the dress you’re in when you’re holding your cherub. That looks fab!

Agree on tossing all three. The one where you are holding your child is so much more flattering. It has a banded waist instead of a gathered waist, which hits you just at the right place (not too high or too low), and the skirt is not all gathered either, skimming your hips and not adding extra bulk.

However, I will say the pink and green dresses are both gorgeous colors for you.

Yep, all 3 should probably be passed. As a fellow hourglass, I welcome you to the dress hunt; I'm having a blast finding some new cuts for my shape!

Agree that all 3 do not do you justice at all. I'd pass and look for more flattering shapes. You have a great figures for dresses!

Definitely toss the first two - they don't flatter your shape at all. The third one is so so but I'm with Antje - you can probably find dresses that are way better.

I'm with Antje and would advise passing on all three dresses so you can focus on finding better options (such as the one you posted in your body type thread - so cute!)

I'm actually voting to toss the third one as well. The problem is that it's gathered at the waist, which is not a good look for hour glasses (I can attest to that personally as a fellow hourglass.) You will be much happier with dresses that are not gathered at the waist like this. I'd say toss and invest in more flattering cuts. Wrap style is super, but not in combination with the waist gathering. Does that make sense?

My favourite is also the third. I'd keep it, at least for now, and pass on the first two.

My favorite is the third, I think it looks great on you!!Tthe first one also seems to work. The second one does seem to hit at the wrong spot. You have a very good figure for dresses.

Thank you to all of you who offered help identifying my body type! I'm going through my closet and trying to get rid of dresses that don't flatter my shape, and I'm not sure about these three. The first two I'm pretty sure that I don't like. The third one I'm not sure. I think that all of these dresses have too much fabric and/or the fabric is too thick and adds bulk. I compare these photos to the patterned dress on photobucket, and I look much better in that one, and the fabric is very thin.

Pink dress:

Green wrap dress: (wrap dresses should work, but this one seems to hit me at the wrong spot)
http://s259.photobucket.com/al.....CN1627.jpg

Brown dress:
http://s259.photobucket.com/al.....CN1632.jpg

Sorry for the photo quality - I'm still trying to master taking a picture of myself in the mirror.
