Ugh, I can't relate. Snowy and cold again, I am ready for spring.

It is a good point though, having the right clothes for the climate makes a huge difference in comfort level.

Even within just the 6 years that I've been living here, HK winter has warmed up considerably... It's been frustrating schlepping winterwear over here from back home, only for it to languish in my closet!

Just commiserating, sorry I don't have any good tips to give

Long stretch of heat—tell me about it! Tampa usually had a couple 90+ days in Feb, and hit 93 pretty much every single day from May through early October. Even though we’d like more snow than we get here, at least summers are not like that.
As you’re stocking up, think about silk, whether woven or knit. It doesn’t always have to be ironed, but it is always wonderful to wear, in heat or cold. That versatility might pay off over the next few years, as temps swing more wildly.

I feel like February in Bay Area always gets a week of hot summer weather - like now. Sandals are worn out pretty fast during long summer/almost summer months - duplicating right now since it's on sale . Sleeveless tops ( in lightweight fabrics with prints ) are on my list permanently.

Definitely can relate.

I had been meaning to post about this too actually

We are having a very hot summer here in Western Australia. We had an unprecedented run of 6 days of temps over 40C.

And yes I ran out of "hot summer clothes" and, like you, need to get some more! I only wear sleeveless, sometimes spaghetti straps, no waists, no collars. Mostly loose dresses. I need to get some more cami style loose tops.

You have my empathy!

We have had a horrible humid heatwave - linen and sandals were the most comfortable. Love linen but the ironing is annoying.

It's a growing part of my wardrobe too - work appropriate and hot weather clothing.

Yuuuup. I finally put my summer clothes away in December and here I am digging them out again in February. Just when I was thinking I needed a bit more for the 75° winter weather, it's 90° instead.

I used to have the Bed Stu Sotos and they are my favorite sandals I've ever owned. I would have replaced them directly, except they were out of stock in my size when I needed new sandals. I ended up with the Artemis instead. I also have a pair of Miz Mooz! Both are super-comfortable.

At >60 wears each, I'll probably have to replace at least one of these pairs this summer, and I think I could use a new summer dress or two this year, too.

Ugh, I can relate. It hit 80 in the Bay Area this weekend. It feels really nice but I'm worried about the lack of rain. I like Jaileen's suggestion. The Mephistos look less clunky than the Birkenstocks--I broke my Birkies out this weekend and while I like them, I think they will be my last pair. I find breathable footwear, if you can tolerate, is a good air conditioner. I can wear jeans almost all summer as long as my feet are cool. Good luck!

I moved from a mostly summer climate to a colder ones d am keeping all the hot weather closet items that I like for that reason. Our climate was supposed to that of St Augustine, TX in 15 years and is getting hotter each year. I might say the change seems ahead of schedule. I wear my hot weather items longer and more often and can only guess that the trend will continue. Maybe someday we will have a Riverwalk or a creek walk. Boulder already has a Raft-to-Work day. Usually tubes are used.
Hang onto the hot weather items. You may need them sooner than you think. It is not only getting hotter, it is also getting drier here. Some places have lots more rain and flooding or other extremes. Good topic to think about.

Julie- since summer clothing is not yet fully available, I am starting with footwear. I have some options in mind already:

I also saw a couple of swimsuits that I might try:

https://shopaverie.com/collect.....e-piece-79
https://www.garnethill.com/gar.....ens/559600?

nemosmom- breathable dresses and sandals have worked for me in the past, but aren't always the most practical for my work.

kkards- it IS hard on your wardrobe. Having enough pair of sandals to rotate makes it a little better.

rachylou- I did switch things from the back to the front of the closet, but with our weather I don't think I could pack anything away. It will be back in the 60's next week.

SF- If it's going to be this hot for that long, I will just need much more- especially of one piece dressing. Like kkards mentioned, the heat is rough on clothes- they have to be washed after each wearing due to sweat, which means they wear out more quickly. I also do a bit of walking and lots of driving and in/out of the car for work, so more wear and tear on my clothes.

Angie- we were in Portland during that heatwave, and my son was recovering from surgery. It was miserable!

Summers are getting hotter, everywhere. It's a scary reality, isn't it. In Seattle last year - record temperatures were at 107F. Even though we still have a lot of cool weather, and early Spring can feel like Winter in the PNW - we have HOT Summer weather for months these days. Even I'm wearing sleeveless tops and dresses in Summer.....

Soooooo, good job identifying the climate pivot and refreshing your wardrobe accordingly. You have a fab base to work from!

I feel for you. Last summer was very hot here, plus we had days and days and days of smoke. This is new to us - having to stay inside because breathing the air is hazardous or very hazardous to our health. I’m looking at getting another air purifier so we don’t have to carry the one we have back and forth between the bedroom and the family room. And if that weren’t enough to think about, right now we are in our wet season, yet we haven’t had any precipitation since December. January was bone dry, and February so far, is too.

But yes to sandals! I have many many pairs of sandals and probably don’t need any, but I’d like another pair of Mephisto Helens. They are a little pricy so I’m thinking whether I should or not. They are like Birkenstocks but more comfortable.
