Star (Lise) on "Clear Spring!" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/clear-spring#post-2385982 Tue, 13 May 2025 06:04:54 +0000 Star (Lise) 2385982@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ That is cool Jenni that your own inclinations were validated.  Just shows you in touch with what works for you and what doesn't.  I was always a winter and then with silver hair maybe bordering on clear spring.  Somewhere winter aligns with spring.  Although it is written everywhere that changing hair colour is not what determines anything, my hair copper/blonde colour has definitely shifted me on to the warm side and I have no idea which one.  Thrifting clothes lately has been eye-opening as to what now suits me.    I do think I could always wear a bit of both warm and cool, but with silver hair definitely not.  You have prompted me to do some research.  I do find it an interesting topic. The third one I think is called Light Spring. I just wanted to use the CMB system since that was the book I had read in 1985! That’s why I kept persisting despite the setbacks. Some of it was a bit beyond me like this is “deeper” and this has more clarity or whatever, I have read a lot around it and realise those are all words used in colour theory but some of it I couldn’t always recognise in person. However enough of it resonated as she was doing it that I thought she was right. She didn’t cover my hair which some of them do, but then there is no dye on the hair. My biggest fear was that she might tell me I was a Soft Summer or similar and that she might want me to give up my brights! I might not have followed the advice if that were the case. J’Aileen she did talk about the softening of skin and eyes and hair that can happen with age. She said I was fairly neutral and only just to the warm side so I might be able to “borrow” some colours from Clear Winter. That made me happy too. I am sorry you got such delayed admin responses in your medical experience! My husband and I are in quite small practices and although we try so hard I am sure we miss what people need occasionally. Nurses have been the hardest to come by in both our fields. Clear to muted, etc.  I found the drapes more helpful than having a color season because I learned how to see the qualities of a color that were most complementary. It does make sense as you do suit bolder colours well but can also handle black and olives. That is frustrating re the service- definitely sounds like it could be improved. I agree with your summation - for me I have found it useful but I am not strict on it. I shop more than you and I have basically rules out racks and racks of clothes at times because they were all muted or cold colours. I have put the colours that I don’t like at the back of my palette…. Not many but there are about four I can never see myself wearing. It was a fun experience in the end. I know it can’t be an exact science as the analyser’s skills must vary, and I know some people get analysed as several different seasons ( Staysfit was, on our forum). I think it was worth spending the money for me, but only now that I have more money available than I once did. Also I am not spending much on clothes! I was just given several pieces through a clothes swap one of my daughters was doing- she picked out things she thought I might like with pretty good accuracy. Ha ha Dee about the spelling! Happy though, that it all worked out in the end and that you've been vindicated with your preferred colour choices. I had my colours done decades ago as well. Like Janet, there was only 4 seasons back then. I was told I was a summer. I have more or less adhered to this colour palette ever since, because it makes wardrobe management so much easier to deal with and I do feel these are some of the best colours on me. P.S. Different kind of business, but I ordered some badly-needed new running socks. The brand I like is impossible to find in local stores anymore. I placed the order March 1, and when it arrived on March 12, I realized I bought the wrong size! I contacted them right away to exchange, and got an automated email a week later. Here we are in May, and I still cannot get a response to my exchange request! I gave up and ordered them from another vendor. I will probably try to sell the first batch on eBay. So frustrating! Anyway! Congrats on finally having your long-desired analysis done! Isn’t it good to have your choices validated? I have always thought you do a very nice job with your happy colors and prints, so I’m not surprised at all. I had a CMB evaluation back in the 80s when the mom of one of my BFFs hosted one of those parties where you “get your colors done” and they try to sell you makeup. I was a poor college student at the time so I don’t remember buying anything, but I was a little surprised that along with my two best friends, who had dark brown eyes, dark brown hair, and olive skin (that tanned! Oh I was so envious!), I was deemed a Winter, even though I was fair-skinned with blue-green eyes. But it works for me. Now I suspect we would be called two different types of Winter, but I don’t know what specifically I would be. Glad you ended up having a good experience! Like in the original Spring I think there are now 3 sub seasons of Light Spring, True Spring and Clear Spring. Or something like that. Even the 1980 Carole Jackson book was based on earlier systems. I think that book brought it to the masses, as it were. I had been considering it for a good year probably- I see I responded on Sally’s post 10 months ago that I was thinking of it. Funnily enough I ended up being typed the same as Sally, as a Clear Spring in the Color Me Beautiful system. (As a US originating system the business here uses your American spelling of Color, but I much prefer British spelling!) It was very hard to organise as first the franchise owner took several weeks to get back to me in January, then she had moved to the other side of town, suggested someone else more local, who also took ages to get back to me to say she had just gone on maternity leave and would be taking clients in November! So back to the first woman, again slow, we made a time for 10.30 Wednesday, when I turned up she thought I was coming at 12.30! I checked the emails, my time was definitely correct. But she was actually lovely in the end. I was just quite frustrated with the difficulty in booking- both my husband and I are in customer-focused businesses (both in health) and the amount of effort we put into getting back to people… let’s just say it doesn’t compare. Rant over! So I was really relieved, after thinking I was a Spring for the last 40 years since I read Carole Jackson’s famous book, that I was typed as a Spring. Clear Spring, specifically. I took along several of my favourite tops, and the green sandals, and some makeup. I was happy that the clothes were given approval, and so were all the lipsticks except the Revlon “gold goddess” one, which I probably bought more for the fun name than anything. So essentially it seems keep doing what I’m doing. She did my makeup for me, I liked everything except the blue eyeliner which I don’t use.
