I agree with Ms Mary. Look for bras with straps that blend with your clothes. It looks like you could wear a bra with black straps with the second top.

Hi Mo, I like the Fantasie Ava strapless underwire bra. I'm 30E or F in many bras, but for this one I got a 30DD and it works really well. I've never experienced such staying power in a strapless bra. It also comes with (regular) straps if you want to use it as a t-shirt bra.

$60! $80! That's highway robbery!

Whoa. And I thought I had problems. A lot of places don't carry my size 32 C. They jump from 32B to 34 A.

The Calvin Klein bra I found actually doesn't have pads. It's a convertible bra, wearable with or without straps. It was such a rarity, I had to get it: a balconette in a 32 C, no padding.

Thanks, Rachylou. I have several Calvin's myself. But his strapless ones have big pads - uck. I might just do what I've always done and get a 32 and cut and sew the dang band. I still think it's crazy that 32 bras can be found for under $20, but the minute you do down to size 30 or smaller they jump to $60 and $80!

Oh, and I do have racerbacks, and am wearing one in the first pic, but due to the cut in at the shoulder, the straps still peek out.

I'm shallow up top too, if I get your meaning correctly. I wear only balconette bras. Elle McPherson makes some nice ones, a little narrow in the ribcage. Found a Calvin Klein one at Nordstrom Rack, and got it, even tho it's purple. A little wider in the ribcage.

No to the plastic straps from me, too. A racer back bra might work with #2, as mirrorlight mentioned. But otherwise I'd rather see actual bra straps ... I also find those plastic straps irritating to my skin, I think it's because they don't 'breathe' properly. Ick.

The plastic ones are not good. It's a delimma because I HATE not only the clear plastic ones but also strapless bras in general. They make my "girls" look weird. Fortunately as a card carrying member of AARP (brandishes card defiantly!!!) I like more "coverage" anyway.

Thanks for the head's up on the Mystere, but I am the opposite of implants, I have shallowness at the top, which becomes ridiculous with some bras. Lucky me (she said sarcastically), I'm just wide, and so I don't fit into the underwire that matches my protrusion (or lack thereof). They look like cereal bowls turned upside down on my chest lol! Even though it was the wrong size for me and I had to cut and sew the band, the best strapless fit I ever got was Maidenform's One Fab Fit, because of how the cups layed flush near the top. http://www.herroom.com/Maidenf.....-Bra.shtml
Guess the search continues . . .

No on the plastic straps, sorry. I have the Le Mystere No. 9 one, it does stay up. I sized down on it cup-wise, I feel it fits better that way. It is quite padded.

Malina, the best strapless bra I've found is the Le Mystere #9 one. It's made for women with breast implants, which I don't have, but I do have a small rib cage and a larger cup size and this one stays up.

I think the plastic ones are always noticeable unfortunately :/

I don't love wearing strapless bras, but luckily I don't own many outfits that would require it - those that do, I just suck it up and wear one. Fortunately I've found for tops that are cut like the one you have in photo #2, a racerback-type bra seems to be good enough.

Follow up question - I think I"ve asked before, but has anyone got the Simone Perele Aura strapless? http://www.amazon.com/Simone-P.....038;sr=8-1 And how does sizing run? I tried the Andora at Nordie's but it was not a perfect fit - I was likely between 30D and 30E except they had no E for me to try

You know, those sweaty, non stretchy kind that feel like saran wrap that comes with some convertible bras? Do you ever use them? Would you find a bit of the strap peeking out tacky or do you think it's basically invisible to the casual observer?

I have these straps but never use them. I'm rethinking this for two of my tops that have generously cut shoulders. I have been buying and returning (or reselling) strapless bras for 2 years now, to no avail. I almost pulled the trigger on a Simone Perele Aura strapless but am not certain of my size. I got to thinking, if I only have 2 or 3 shirts or dresses that need this, maybe I can just get by with the plastic?

Here's the specific clothes I'm thinking of:

yay - no one notices the little stuff
nay - tacky

Thanks!
