Something like baking powder, as Joyce suggests or a powdered detergent on one of those Scotch double sided sponges could work well too. After a recent trip to Italy, the sides of the white soles are really dirty, and what makes these sandals fabulous (besides the crazy-good comfort) is the stark white sole.
