I have had cotton spandex CE shorts and carpis and both looked pretty worn after only a couple of washings. But if you wear them casually I think you can get away with a more faded black. CE also has a line of light weight wool-spandex trousers that won't have the same issue.

I don't have these particular pants, but I have had lots of luck with washing CE items. Have you tried the Woolite for dark clothes? It might help retain the color. I think the haze is your detergent and the cold water doesn't dissolve it properly. I sometimes get white streaks and have to rewash or brush the spots with a wet washcloth.

Found a pair at the Rack! Nice fit, fabric is soft and comfy. It says I can wash these in cold, etc., but my experience with black cotton-spandex pants (even inside-out and in cold and hung to dry) is that after one wash, they get this sort of gray haze and no longer look spiffy and new. Anyone have any similar CE pants? What's their half-life? Thanks!
