All I wear anymore is my platinum plain wedding band.

I have a gorgeous very chunky diamond ring that belonged to my late mother-in-law and I love that one. It won't fall off because I have "Ducky knuckles" (my grandmother) but once it's past the knuckle, it spins around so the diamonds are on the palm side. :(

Also, my Skagen watch died and no one but an authentic Skagen jeweler is allowed to change the battery (what?). So I am impatiently awaiting a replacement from Nixon. Liz, per your issue, I had the new watch engraved on the back. It will say: "You can do it."

Pearl necklaces, single pearl stud earrings and cuff bracelets are classics in my book — and the only jewelry I wear. For me having only a few jewelry options makes getting dressed easy.

This is a muddy one, Carla! What Joy said.

Most classic jewellery is having a trendy moment! Soooooo, there you go. It's not straightforward :)

I like dainty, classic, gold and pearl jewellery. Yet my white pearls are BIG (I'm slight, so they look even bigger on me). I think that makes them look LESS classic - and still classic!

My hip goddaughter who is 19, only wears very dainty and classic real gold jewellery and white pearls. It's AMAZING to me, that a Gen Z'er would wear what I wear at 53 (Gen X'er). We could swap jewellery and be 100% authentic.

Size of jewelry tends to trend. Right now the look is more small or dainty or classic and big clunky stuff waits it out. My gold hoops have come back but do not work well with masks. I am also wearing pearl solitaires more now. Maybe the big stuff will be back next summer.

I love watches and wanted to add a little detail to the classics. For example: a two tone, round dial stainless steel watch, a square faced "tank" watch, and a delicate gold bracelet watch (I no longer own one). And the Mondaine is a classic sporty watch.

I don't own a Rolex, sadly.

I agree with all the classic you have listed! I think I wear classics or classics-with-a-twist, but often in less classic ways, such as layering, mixing metals, etc. I would add my (mom's old) Claddagh ring as a 'cultural classic'.

Liz, absolutely you can wear a solitaire! If someone asks who you are engaged to, you can say MYSELF! My DD has declared she is having a wedding whether she finds a partner or not lol ... so you can certainly have an "engagement ring".

Hoop earrings. And I think this question is so dependent on culture; style classics are definitely context-specific.

I think of small pendants on fine chains in silver or gold as classic. Same with small gemstone rings. Are brooches/pins classic? I tend to think so.

My jewelry style is NOT classic at all. I collect artisan pieces that are unusual, sculptural, architectural. I love interesting stones like labaradorite and larimar, way more than precious stones. I wear silver rather than gold, which always seems more classic/traditional to me. I have some inherited vintage pearls that I never wear because they feel too classic for my style.

Statement rings are a big part of my style — I feel naked if I don’t have one on. Usually on my ring finger of right hand but sometimes the middle finger as many rings are a little large on my skinny fingers. Wedding and diamond rings on my left hand. My other jewelry varies with the day and outfit — sometimes larger statement earrings (which are not super visible with my hair longer now anyway). My necklaces aren’t getting much wear these days but I keep them in case my mood shifts. I have sworn off any more bracelets because I so rarely wear them. Im not terribly drawn to smaller, finer jewelry styles — if I am wearing a piece, I want it to have some presence.

Yes to cuff bracelets! Just love those--classic but modern; like almost all classic jewelry, they are consummately wearable: no jingle-jangling or getting caught in things! Agree with you, Runcarla, that minimalism with jewelry is a wise approach.

Question for the forum: as an unmarried woman, can I wear a solitaire diamond ring on my right hand? Love the look of simple solitaire diamonds but feel odd wearing one as a single gal. Any insights appreciated!

I would say bangle bracelets, both simple and chunky. Simple silver necklaces with a small pendant--heart, cross, etc. Cuff bracelet, turquoise jewelry, chandelier earrings.

I’m a minimalist when it comes to jewellery. I don’t even wear my wedding ring these days. However, I do sport diamond studs (on sleepers) that I wear 24/7. If I ever switch them out, it is for single pearls, or gold hoops.

Gold necklaces (chains of varying widths and lengths) and pearls - single, double, triple strand - are classic, but can be styled in non-classic ways. I think of certain wrist watches and bracelets (diamond tennis bracelet, gold circlets, charm bracelets) as classic.

Signet rings, gold bands, diamond solitaire, eternity ring - classics.

Can you think of anything else?
