Astrid there are some in H&M. It fit me ok and they are not super expensive. If things don't work out, give it a try maybe?

Fieldmouse, I agree. Not many classically cut coats out there and they're not big on wool either. I have different options this week because I'm back at home so I'm going to give it another try this week before I order online. I hope the one you ordered works out for you!

Thanks Diane! I hadn't looked at them yet. It's always good if you can add to the list of sites to search on.

Thanks Inge! I've looked at them early on because I really like their stuff, but it's all not exactly what I'm looking for. I liked the one you linked to best too, but I think the fur would be hard to keep clean and I can't do regular dry cleaning.

Sorry the coat didn't work out, Astrid. I really like the style for you.

Have you looked at Boden yet? They have several options, but I really like this one for you:
http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/W.....vGroupID=2

Astrid have you tried Next too? They have a German site. There are a few nice coats. While they may not be completely made from wool some do have a reasonable percentage in the mix.
http://de.nextdirect.com/de/Ge.....40Page-1-P

I've been on a coat hunt as well (it was 20C barely a week ago and then it dropped all the way down to below 5...) and totally forgot too that Gap has an EU site (don't want to order from outside the EU because of taxes). I have the same issue with fitted coats, I'd have to size up for hips and then the shoulders won't fit. I ended up ordering a 50% wool skater coat from ASOS in petite, fingers crossed it'll work when it gets here. I actually haven't seen that many traditionally cut coats in stores this year, only trendy cuts and styles. And lots of acrylic...

Thanks Glory! Petite sizing is great, but not widely available. I really like the cacoon coats out there on other people, but I'm not sure how I feel about surrendering the waist. And I never wear skinnies and I think the look best with slim bottoms. I forgot about Gap, they do have an extra site for Europe I think. I'm going to have a look.

Astrid the winter coat shape can be tricky. I agree if you size up the shoulders will be off. One possibility is try and find a petite.
Would a cacoon coat be an option? pic 1

Or perhaps a peacoat such as this one? http://www.gapcanada.ca/browse.....8;cid=5739

I also found this duffle coat from MS which flares out - I think this style of duffel could possible work pic 2

Okay, I asked them for measurements and it won't work. They told me to size up for the hips but then the shoulder line would be sloppy.

Thanks Kkards - it looks lovely, but I don't think I want to chance international shipping.

have you seen this one from llbean?
http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop.....uffel-coat
on the model it shows a small flare starting at the waist. not sure if it will pop up for you, but when i went to the website this morning, a pop up for 20% off came up.

If you phone them get the full length & where the pockets fall too so you can tell where they will "sit" on your body. Good luck.

Thanks Caro! That's what I suspected. They give no measurements, but I could phone them. Thing is there are absolutely no coats with a decent length and some flare out there, so I will probably need to order online in any case.

This style is usually fairly straight Astrid. I'd be checking all the measurements very carefully before buying if I were you :)

It's getting cold outside and I really need a coat! I've started looking in the stores, but they're all so expensive and often not true wool either.

Now I found this coat online, it's a british dufflecoat and the quality is probably great and it's wool. And marked down 30%. It's still expensive, but not so much if you compare it with other coats I've looked at so far. But I'm not sure whether I should order or not because it looks like it's cut fairly straight - like most of the coats I've tried so far.

Do you think this is worth a try? Or do you have a suggestion where to get a warm coat suitable for a pretty pear? I would definitely spend a bit more if it would mean getting not only a stylish looking coat but one that keeps me warm as well.

ETA
Checked the measurements and it won't work. I'd love other suggestions though, it doesn't need to be a dufflecoat. I want warmth, length and good fit. I probably need both a fall coat and a more gearish coat for when it's freezing.
