Thanks for the info, Suz! They do sound like "magic boots"!

Debora, I do have the ML colorblock dress--it was an Angie recommendation and I really like it! It was a little tight through the shoulders, but I sized up and it is fine. Really good construction on this dress.

Sarah and Gracey, Thanks! G-boot length must be really difficult if you are 6 feet tall!

I say keep and I think that's about where my riding boots hit me. Of course, I'm six foot so actual knee-high or OTK boots are almost an impossibility on me, but I think this height is just fine.

Isis, they are insulated. Not for 8 hours of mountain hiking in Alaska. But I wore them for 8 hour days (actually, 12 to 14 or 15 hour days!) in New York during one of the city's huge snowstorms last winter. It wasn't bitterly cold but it was slushy and damp cold and my feet stayed completely dry and warm.

And yet - magic - my feet and legs do not get too hot in them, either. I wear them indoors with comfort.

Now, having said that, I don't even think to wear tall boots until the temperatures drop below a certain point. And I pretty much save these for winter, wearing my other (unlined) tall boots during the early fall. But the leather (and the elastic panel) seem breathable and the lining doesn't seem to interfere with that.

I have been really happy with them so far! And it is true, they are wearable with dresses or with skinnies because of the elastic backs, and wearable by people with different calf sizes.

Tarzy, I got these on amazon during the Black Friday sales.....I'll bet there will be a Christmas sale if you are still interested, and would like to get them on sale. As you'd expect of Clarks, they ARE high quality; I'm just trying to figure out fit!

For what it's worth, I'm between an 8.5 and a 9. The 9 fit best.

Isis - If your skirt length are around knee, then it's the perfect boot for you.

Case in point - I have a pair of issued winter dress boots that end right under my knee. The skirts we had to wear with them came out of the box at around knee length (or just below); my skirt pretty near MET my boots and it looked HORRIBLE.

EDIT - I'll look around to see if I can find a picture of that abominable uniform. hehe

Very tall, tall boots: not always a good thing.

So maybe these WILL work. How amazing if I could get boots on the first try?

Suz, you find them warm for outdoors, but do you find them too hot indoors? I live in a warm climate. I do like the height on your legs! The stretch goring on the back is a great feature that makes me think these could work on skinnies and with dresses.

Isis, I actually think they are slightly better on you than on me! They are just on the verge of being too tall for me but are okay esp. with skinnies. And with tights they are also better than with bare legs.

Rae, with these boots there is a stretch panel at the back that helps the gap issue. Although mine DO gap a bit, but hopefully not enough to be glaringly obvious.

I like this height. If knee boots are too tall, I think it opens up all kinds of fit issues with the curve of the calf. I think the height works really well with the length of your skirts, too.

MM-- most of my skirts do end at the knee......I feel that's the best length for me..

Una, Full body shots added, above and I'll add them here. 2 Una-style head-to-the-side shots, and 1 deer-in-the-headlights shot!

Suz, glad to hear the recommendation for the quality of the boots! I'm really looking for a super-comfortable boot. The Frye Rory's I have are just too high a heel for me for all the walking that I do.....I think the difference in our heights make a difference; I like the way yours come up higher. And they don't gap at all.....So maybe I should be looking for a 15.5-16 inch shaft?

Isis, I can't really advise on the height without a full body shot, but I have these boots and I LOVE them. They are weatherproofed and warm enough for most conditions if you wear a light wool sock. I wear them as "in the city" snowboots AND as fashion boots, mostly for tucking skinnies but occasionally with a dress.

I am somewhere around 5'4" and my legs are on the short side. I think they come up a bit taller on me; here are a few quick pics. Sorry it is a bit dark but hopefully you can see.

Isis, any chance you could post a full body shot? I have a really hard time gauging boots without seeing all of someone... They look like a good fit to me but seem a little short. They are the height of my tall boots and I'm 5 inches shorter than you. But even calf length can differ!

I personally prefer tall boots to end just below the knee. In photo 6 when you raise the hem of the skirt, the length (or rather lack thereof) becomes really apparent. I think these are perfeclt fine if you stick to skirts that are around knee length (especially if you got a great deal on them).

I give the boots a thumbs up, although I think I would pair them with narrower legged pants than what you show here--there is too much bagging in the knee with those pants, in my opinion. Definite yay with skirts/dresses/tights.

During the recent ankle boots vs knee high boots, I was shocked to find that, as an ankle-boot person, I was in such a minority!

Except for rain boots and hiking boots, somehow, I haven't owned knee high boots since high school! I recently acquired a pair of Frye Rory's, but I would like a pair of flat knee high boots. I took advantage of the black Friday sales on Amazon to order a pair of Clarks Aguila Bay boots.

What do we think? Are knee high boots supposed to come up closer to my knee? I am 5' 6.5''; these have a 14.5'' shaft. (And, because I was measuring, my calves turn out to be 14.5''. ) I'm totally willing to return, this is a first attempt!

I would really like to wear these with skirts and dresses, but perhaps also skinnies. I would usually wear tights with the dresses, but here they are with my knees!

They are comfy, as one would expect from Clarks.

EDIT: full body shots added
