#1 looks the most elegant to my eye - a version that you could wear with blazers and heels if you felt like dressing them up. It is fun to see the different options and how a cuffed hem makes them look more casual.

The varied reactions are very interesting here. I absolutely agree with Angie and you - #1 and #5 are the winners. Technically #5 is my preferred length on me, but with wider shorts. I like the longer length with this slimmer silhouette. But I do have at least one pair that are #5 length and fit like skinnies that I do like under very voluminous tops or tunics. Anyway, they look great on you!

I like them as they are best and that cuffed they look too snug to be comfortable so no opinion on the length. I know there's a theory that they shouldn't stop at the widest part of the calf but I think "as is" is very pretty on you.

You will laugh Tanya but I always think of you as narrow with long legs.

I have the same kinds of reservations about shorts that you do (although I see nothing wrong with your nice slim legs at all!). I really think any of these approaches works, but I do like them full length, and rolled to just below the knee. I vote keep them as they are so you can enjoy them either way.

Thank you all so much for so many (relatively varied) responses. It goes to say that flattery can sometimes be very subjective.

I like the side slit as several of you mentioned, so that design feature will certainly be kept.

Fashintern, Murph11 and Erin, I appreciate the support for #6/shorts. I get it that it probably does not look as bad as in my head, but since I still actively dislike showing my knees if at all avoidable, I will skip that look with these pants.

Gryffin, I am 3" taller than you, but with the leg length difference, it probably comes about to the same. I am sure you look excellent in your black version.

Always Trying, completely agreed that we should wear whatever length pants personally work for us, regardless of what some sources may say.

Angie, I tried the sit down test with under the knee cuff (#5), and it was perfectly fine.

Based on the majority of the votes, and some personal preferences as well, the winners are #1 and #5. I will keep the length as is, with the slit (#1), and when the mood strikes, roll them shorter (#5). If I find that I end up wearing option #5 much more often than #1, I will hem them to the length, keeping the side slit.

I don't mind 1, I like 2 and 3, the cuff is cute, so is the side slit. I don't care for the just under the knee length nor the short length because that looks a bit less stylish to my eye. But I am not picky about lengths, and I think a lot of flattering is in how you style it.

IMO, there is just too much garbage about lengths of all these pedal pushers, clamdiggers, skimmers, names of all these lengths from just below the knee to ankle. All are supposed to be unflattering unless you are 5ft.10 and model thin with very long legs.
All your lengths are fine-wear them shorter if it is very casual or hotter weather.
I am too old for shorts, and full length is too warm when it is hot--so I just wear what feels best.
We women should just stop listening to all the stuff about our short legs, looking stumpy. Did this stuff start with the "leg lamp"?

Tanya - I like them full length on you. You have slender shaply calves so cutting across the width looks fine. I think these look great but you need to select what is most pleasing to you. I bought the black at your suggestion. I carry my height in my legs to although I'm 5'3", I think you have a couple of inches on me, they hit similar maybe a tidge higher, but I really like this length. I think it makes them more elegant, a bit dressier so skew into nice casual with a dressier top and blazer. But it's all good. They look wonderful either way!

Hmmm, I just don't know! I feel like any of these could work, but it also might depend a little bit on what type of footwear you are usually going to pair them with? I lean toward keeping them as-is (the length looks great to my eye and I love the side slits), but I also think they look cute cuffed. Hopefully Angie will chime in with her wisdom.

I have never been a big fan of shorts for myself as I do not like exposing my upper legs, but would go through phases where I would wear them, especially the longer, bermuda ones that end right above/mid knee. Lately, I feel completely off shorts, I will wear the one bermuda pair I still have, but do not intend to get more. For those reasons, clamdiggers have always appealed to me and I recently got a pair from Frame denim I really like - the material has a lots of stretch but they feel "sculpting", a bit like shapewear in a good way as opposed to like leggings. I got the blue denim ones (first find), but attached the Find of the black version so that you can see the fit and length on model. They are a bit longer than classic clamdiggers, Frame calls them "Pedal Pushers".

I am super sensitive and pedantic about pant lengths as I have proportionally shorter legs (about 2") for my height, and leg elongation is relatively high on my priority list, though I will do JFE, too. Below are a bunch of pictures of these pants in various lengths:
1) The length as they are - not sure if they are too long
2) and 3) slightly shorter length that I am thinking of hemming to
4) same length as #2, but rolled to it
5) rolled to right under the knee - more traditional clamdigger length
6) rolled to bermuda length (which I do not think is flattering at all)

Questions are:
1) Should I keep them as are, or hem, and if hemming is better, should I go for length in #2 or in #5?
2) What do you think of various rolled lengths in 4/5/6 in terms of flattery and can I get way with the cuff at all or does the contrast visually shorten my legs even more?
