Shiny,

Glad to hear that you found some clams.

I tried your UO idea, but had difficulty with the fit of their skinnies. They just felt too stretchy, if that makes any sense. I'll bet if I threw them against a wall, they'd bounce right off, IYKWIM. I also tried the ones at BR, but they were too loose.

I was thinking about ordering a pair of J Crew white cropped matchsticks. They're jeans fit me pretty well. Do the crops really stretch a ton? What other brands do you think are worth pursuing? I'd like to get a pair of white and a dark denim pair. I think that premium prices for a cropped jean are a bit steep for me, even though I'd pay for a full-length jean.

Let me know what you think.

San, they stretch a little - but not as much as say DNKY or even the Jcrew matchsticks or my UO's. It's less the stretch issue and more about the weight of the denim. They are lighter weight - which is great for hot weather! - but I fear they will wear out a lot sooner than a better quality denim. :-(

I suspect I will only get one more season's wear out of the pair I bought last year. I did wear them constantly last year - about 3-4x's per week. So they are worth the money from cost/wear perspective. But compared to my COH, I'm dubious. Those jeans I expect will last for at least 5 years of year-round wear.

Maya - they look exactly the same as the ones I wore all last summer! Here's a pic of me wearing them in Paris - where I wore them probably about every other day for two weeks - without washing once!
http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....ics395.jpg

Now if only I could get the same exact clams, in white denim.

I saw those and really liked them, and 17" is my perfect clam length. Unfortunately my fun money was shot on yarn and sandals (assuming I keep them). Hope we get to see some pictures!

Shiny, why do you say you wish they were better quality denim? Do they stretch out a bunch?

I took all the clamdiggers back and instead picked up another pair of Inc petite clams. Exactly the same as the pair I already own (and wore all the time last summer), except the pocket detailing is slightly different. Denim weight and color is exactly the same. They seem to fit a bit higher in the rise as well, but may shrink when I wash them. I wish they were in better quality denim BUT - fit trumps all!!

They are basically these:
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/.....ryID=19262

... except the size 2p is measuring only 15 inches in inseam. (I roll them up to 13 inches - no hemming necessary, since they are meant to be cuffed.) And the rise measures 9 inches, not 8-1/2. Hmm. Doesn't sound like the same clams at all, does it?

Anyway, if anyone is looking for reasonably-priced clams (use your Macy's coupons for a discount!), I do like these. They are higher rise and slim-fitting.
