Hi! I think you should post a photo too.

I am a pear and I do wear cropped skinnies and cigarette pants. In fact I'm wearing my black cigarette pants today. I find that in general they look better if you roll them. I tend to just roll my regular length pants actually. I like 4-6 inches above the ankle bone (Angie mentions this length in one of her posts too). It's important that the bottoms be very tapered (no gaping at the ankle) - you can usually tighten it up a bit in the roll if you have to.

The only thing is that it might be slightly leg shortening. I have long legs for my height so I don't worry about that. In the picture I attached, the patterned skinnies have white cuffs and I am wearing shoes w/ lots of horizontal straps though. If your skinnies have same colored cuffs and you wear lower vamp shoes the leg line would be longer!

Another option would be to chop the pants a bit and turn them into clamdiggers (that end between mid-calf and knee) which are flattering on just about everyone so long as the bottoms are tapered.

Your description isn't working for me if you are aiming for flattering looks!

By that I mean, you've tossed out some potential red flags regarding length and amount of taper that, as a fellow pear, I would pay attention to. Such as, do you accept the more available weird ankle-ish lengths or target more of a clam-digger length, and the amount of taper, and how all that goes with the shoes. I hear you on flats so I really look for the styles that goes best with those, for me, and often that's different from what's marketed via photos with heeled pumps.
Just sayin' that if you can get a bead on whether you care about those things, then you can target some of the styles that match up.
For me a lot depends on whether I want something immediately or want to hunt for special characteristics, which of course takes time and energy.
Post a photo!

I lean toward them being just fine, and you needing to get used to the different look. Been there, done that... I think they look very spring-y!

I wonder if they fall into that "just flattering enough" (JFE) category that Angie has been mentioning lately?

I also wondered the same thing Caro mentioned, about rolling them to experiment with the most flattering length.

I don't have any advice, but as a fellow pear I would like to see what sort of advice you get.

Also, I'll second caro's advice to take and post some photos despite your misgivings.

Sounds like they are too wide to be what I think of as cigarette pants - what do they look like rolled? If I were you I'd take a few photos from all angles, then I'd sleep on it & see how the photos looked in the morning. Other than that if you feel okay in them & really need them for the comfort factor I'd say wear them :)

Last-minute packing and question remains of whether to include the new jeans that arrived today or whether to send them back to Amazon tomorrow.

These are the jeans on a model:

http://www.amazon.com/For-All-.....B00BVVGLHS

I have short legs and short calves and am pear shaped. The pants are slightly big in the waist, but very comfortable, with a thin jean fabric. After becoming a convert to high-waisted skinny jeans, these obviously shorten my leg line, and the waist band across the hips make the horizontal line broader. I can't wear heels, and would wear these with minimalist sneakers. They hit an inch or two above my ankle, and are loose in the lower calf.

I am really drawn to the comfort, the lower waistband that never cuts into the stomach and the spring feel. But I'm not sure if they make me look too bottom heavy, because my previously style has been the opposite. I'm torn between thinking I don't look maximally attractive in these, on the one hand, and image acceptance and comfort on the other. They look spring and crisp and are less bodycon than my other jeans, even if they make my legs look shorter and therefore wider.

The jeans were a steal in terms of price, and have been my only exception for this year's shopping ban because of the physical need for a lighter fabric and ventilation.

I didn't include a photo, because I'm sure given my body proportions, you can imagine the potential downsides. I saw Angie's post addressing a similar question , but am wondering what you would do in this scenario?
