I can relate. It was 80 on Christmas here in Texas so the jcrew Fair Isle Tee was the most "festive" I could manage. It does have nice sparkle and even some blush which made me think of Angie.

Today, it's a different story with a high of 48 predicted.

You can absolutely wear bling with a tee along with dressy shoes and bag, btw. J.Crew invented the fun juxtaposition.

Also, a blouse or dress would have worked for a dressier and breezier holiday look. Glad the tee had some bling!

It was a very warm holiday here in the Northeast. For Christmas Eve at a family gathering, I wore a red silk, voluminous blouse over black skinnies. I wore black flats with no socks. I had to roll up the sleeves of the blouse...it was that warm. No jacket outside. Very, very strange for us.

On Christmas itself, I wore a light drapery cardigan as a topper for church, but switched to short sleeves once I got home. Definitely an odd holiday, fashion-wise. Luckily, my time here at YLF has taught me to look for versatility in a lot of my clothes, so I feel confident I can pull together acceptable outfits no matter what the weather throws at me. Thanks Angie!

Your outfit sounds like mine, in a way.

We went to the SF Bay Area for Christmas. It was chilly. I wore a dark grey metallic turtleneck, dark bootcut jeans and pewter booties. I was perfectly comfortable all day. I didn't need my festive plaid down vest until night. The next day we drove home to 6 inches of snow. I immediately set to shoveling the driveway and deck.

This morning for church it was very cold (12F). I wore a dark blue turtleneck sweater, khaki wide leg pants, lug sole Frye campus boots for traction, and my navy duffle coat. I was somewhat comfortable, but had to wear my coat through most of the service. We sang many carols during the service. Most appropriate was "In the Bleak Midwinter."

Seems like the winters have been mild so far all across the world! I like the idea of festive ponte pants and sparkly tees......you did well. The weather sure is acting strange.

I like your solution, Sterling. I bought a dress specifically with my anniversary in mind, and ended up falling back on the warmer option that has been in my closet for several years, because of--yes, the weather!

I wore my green cotton knit Boden dress (have green and blue) navy tights and navy boots on Christmas Eve and went out for a walk with no jacket. In western Massachusetts. That's never happened before.

Beth Ann -- my metallic tee shirt is in "finds." It is J Crew. One-hundred percent cotton. Very subtle sheen. I bought both the grey and the navy blue. I was quite happy with them because they were somewhat dressy.

Suz -- your sweater is lovely. I would have been quite happy wearing it.

It's difficult when the weather messes up our best laid plans, isn't it?

I wore a cashmere sweater as my topper on Christmas eve, out doing last minute shopping! That has never happened before (and probably won't happen again). Luckily, the sweater was cranberry red. :)

Is the J. Crew tee in the Finds one of your festive elements? I love the subtle metallic sheen!

It was a strange weather season over large portions of the country. I think I live further north than you do, but I found that I was wearing sleeveless shells and knit tops with cardis or unlined blazers --- no coats. Because I tend to run warm, I already have mostly lighter items in my closet.

Your earrings and pants sound like great choices, and you might take comfort remembering that Angie tends to choose one new "festive" outfit each season. Perhaps it makes sense to simply repeat what works!

Of course, next December might be frigid, but you might consider adding one festive blouse -- perhaps in a patterned georgette, or other lightweight fabric. It sounds like your jewelry has some sentimental value -- perhaps it might make you be happy (and look fab) to build a couple of outfits around these pieces.

Happy Holidays! We're having chicken tonight, (not french, and not 3 of them) in celebration of the 3rd day of Christmas!

I had huge plans to get really dressed up for Christmas parties this year. What I actually wore was very different from what I had hoped to wear.

First, the weather. It was warm and terribly humid. Sweaters and blazers were completely out of the question. I ended up wearing long and/or short sleeve tee shirts (no topper whatsoever). I paired my tee shirts with patterned ponte pants. I took comfort from the fact my ponte pants were somewhat festive.

Second, the weather. I usually wear festive and very sparkly jewelry. My prettiest pieces originally belonged to my Mother. They all proved to be far too dressy to wear with tee shirts. I wore a single pair of pearl/obsidian earrings that were a gift from a dear friend. These earrings looked best with the tee shirts. I wore them daily across all events.

Finally, the weather. I tend to wear a lot of sparkly and/or red during the Holidays. All of my red pieces were either sweaters or a blazer. All the red stayed in my closet. I dearly wanted to wear something sparkly. I bought the J Crew Metallic tee shirt shown below. It had a subtle metallic shine that I liked.

So my nod to the Holidays were patterned ponte pants (thank goodness for them), assorted tee shirts, and a single pair of earrings.

Happy New Year everyone.
